Bill White Nails Karen Dolan

The Morning Call's Bill White, who is much nicer but uglier than I, also has problems with the way Bethlehem City Council member Karen Dolan abused the power of her office to get her way with her Illick's Mill nonprofit. In an email to the Mayor last week, despite knowing that her conduct was under scrutiny, she used these threatening words concerning a lease that asked Illick's Mill to pay something for rent and utilities.

"I will do everything I can to prevent this lease from going to Council."

Talk about conflict of interest.

Blaming me, she stepped off the Illick's Mill Board. She still needs to step down from Council, which she has used to stifle free and open discussion.

  1. She is a mess and should not be an elected official. There are a few others in Bethlehem who should not be representing the people as they don't know how.

However, she is a mess and an unethical embarrassment to the city.

  2. greed generally overrides common sense and in this case integrity. Just remember she didn't do this all alone.

not nice or even semi smart to threaten the new mayor who has more integrity in his little pinkie than the whole Callahan clan or the DA

  4. Meh. Anything she diid benefitted a city owned national historic facility. It's not like her own private business benefited. Outrage of the week is, shall we say, a bit weak.

Greed? I'm not seeing this. The kooks are out with their pitchforks again, folks.

  6. The kook is someone who defends official corruption bc the building looks nice. While Dolan did not benefit personally, she certainly abused her office and engaged in an ethical conflict. She needs to resign.

  7. Oh please. The nattering nabobs of negativism strike again. "Corruption" and "greed" are words thrown around and are without place. This thread is a joke carrying around a crew of shut-ins who never lacked something new to complain about.

  9. " He sat on council and allowed all of this"

Since Dolan has had 593 versions, I doubt any of them knew what was happening.

In February, when I met Dolan, she plainly told me she was paying utilities. In fact, I corrected others who asserted she was not.

    She lied to me.

  10. I deleted a comment that is factually inaccurate. I stated incorrectly that Dolan had texted the Mayor, asking him to resign. I had thAt wrong.

  11. She's the Baroness of Bigotry; the Countess of Conflict of Interest. Did Bill thank you for the story? I don't read the MC in print and have to wait until May for a fresh 10 clicks to avoid the pay wall.

  13. As much as I'd like to see it happen, I don't think she would ever resign from council. Too much arrogance.
