Can You Say Mayor Sam Bennett?
Though they're still washing the dishes from Allentown Mayor Edwin Pawlowski's inaugural ball, Allentown blogger Michael Molovinsky has an interesting post about Hizzoner's possible successor.
City Council Prez Julio Guridy would like the job. But Molovinsky passes him over for former Congressional candidate Sam "Curly" Bennett and Charlie "I used to be a Republican" Thiel, a registered Democrat who might run as an Independent.
I have no idea whether Bennett is really serious, but I hope so. The blogs will write themselves.

I vote, More Sam Bennett please!
ReplyDeleteJulio would make Roy A. look like a genius. Allentown would throw away all the progress made.
ReplyDeleteJulio's 1'st order of business would be to change the official language to spanish...
ReplyDeleteBennett? Thought she left for a high paying job in DC. What happened?
ReplyDeleteI thought is language was Jibberish?
ReplyDeleteSam Bennett for mayor? No!
ReplyDeleteWhy would Sam leave a reported $200K job in Washington? Something's up.

ReplyDeleteMaybe Allentown government can be more profitable?
(kidding, of course)
Honestly, I think Sam Bennett would make a formidable opponent. She can tiptoe through and around many issues better than most. She'll be active. Besides, she'll go over much better in high places than Pawlowski.

ReplyDeleteI think we need better choice to pick from, but everyone will find the true mess that Ed's administration created with the selling of water and sewer services.
ReplyDeleteI think that a lot of people are mistaken in assuming that there won't be an incumbent Mayor on the ballot in 2017. Pawlowski is obviously angling for a position Harrisburg. If that doesn't work out, I'd be quite surprised if he doesn't decide to cash in and take a job in the 'private sector'
ReplyDeleteWhoever council chooses as a replacement would certainly have a leg up on other candidates (assuming they don't choose a placeholder who promises not to run).
9:14, Can't believe that web page is still active. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteShe has to be better than Paws or Sal "Kill Public Education" Panto.
ReplyDeleteWhy would Sam leave a reported $200K job in Washington? Something's up.
ReplyDeleteBecause 200K is a pittance in DC? And she obviously still has political aspirations.
The funny and sad thing is after all we now know there are people still promoting Bennett. How truly sad is that!

ReplyDeleteSerious or not on your part but that may be the safe bet. The money boys love her and she loves to play the Paylowski political game.
She has always been politically ambitious. Could be???
Mann has no interest in working that hard for the $$$ return.
ReplyDeleteGet real.
Um... how come no one here mentioned Michael Donovan, the man who got 40% of the vote against the Big Paw, despite running as an Independent and Hizzoner running on BOTH D and R tickets?
ReplyDeleteMann is about power as much as money. It is her thing.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think Cunningham gave up a six figure salary with Rendell to become a county executive at half the pay, not for love of county.
If you don't understand that, you don't understand pols like Mann.
Someone threw out the name of Schlossberg. Who knows. I am sure it will be some carpetbagger.
david at 10:10, donovan told me that he will not run again.
ReplyDeleteSam Bennett as mayor? That would be great for city soccer programs!
ReplyDeleteShe does prove the old adage,"its who you blow not who you know"
ReplyDeleteSam who?
ReplyDeleteSam Bennett. A wonderful woman whose heart is the city. Allentown should give her chance. 3 times a charm.!
