Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton All Have Declared Snow Emergencies

Bethlehem's snow emergency starts at 7 pm. Vehicles not removed from snow emergency routes will be towed. The North Street and Walnut Street public parking garages, and street meters, will be free of charge for the duration of the snow emergency to accommodate parking needs. Cars must be removed from these locations as soon as the emergency is lifted. Residents are asked not to park on public parking lots due to the need to plow these lots.

“We understand that moving vehicles can be an inconvenience,” Mayor Bob Donchez said, “however even though the snow plowing operation will be nearly complete, the removal of cars from snow emergency routes will allow the plowing of snow curb-to- curb, freeing up valuable parking along emergency routes.”

In Easton, the emergency started at noon, and will continue until 9 pm. Vehicles parked along any SNOW EMERGENCY ROUTES must be moved and may not return until the emergency is lifted. Residents living along Snow Emergency Routes are permitted to park in the 3rd Street Parking Garage beginning at 9:00 a.m. 2/3/14 without charge during the course of the emergency. Snow Emergency patrons will be required to have their vehicles removed by 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday 2/4/14.

It started at noon in Allentown as well. That one stays in effect until further notice. Residents parked along snow routes will be ticketed and towed.

  3. If there is a snow emergency and all the streets around city hall are marked, were do people park for the meeting?

  4. They can park in the garage under City Hall, so long as they do not park in a police officer's slot. I was told there should be enough room. Good question. One of the police officers I spoke to recommended that no one drive tonight, and I conveyed his concerns to the city clerk's office. Don't know if they will meet anyway, but there it is.

  5. I live up on 14th Street in Easton. How the hell am I going to park my car in the City Garage, walk all the way back home, and then walk back down to 3rd Street to get my car out by 9 AM? Boy, Easton really hates us in the West Ward and South Side. So glad I don't live up on College Hill, but Lafayette owns all that property pretty much anyway.

  6. That's a haul, to be sure, and dangerous in this weather. I'd ask the CVS at 15th & Northampton for permission to park overnight. If you have a neighbor with a driveway, maybe he or she will let you share for the night. Barring that, I'd call the police (non emergency) and explain the situation. Maybe a cruiser could give neighbors rides home, which would be kinda' fun. Maybe Sal himself would give you a ride. Call.

  7. I think a bus shoots up Northsmpton hourly too, but maybe not in an emergency.

  8. What! You want me to ride with Sal? And catch that disease that was on the ocean cruise liner ship? Are you crazy? I haven't had my cooties shots, yet.

  9. It s nuts Bernie. Why is Bethlehem city council torturing these poor people. They just applied for a vacant position, not cruel and unusual punishment. I mean we all know that Ms. Velazquez will be picked.
She worked on half their campaigns, Dolan has said she is the one and even the head of the Northampton County Democratic Committee told them to vote for her.

Enough with the showmanship. Just tell the good people,e thank you for your interest but for matters of safety only one person need come tonight. Don't even do those silly nominations of people that get nowhere. Just be real. this has gotten bad enough as it is.

14th Street in Easton isn't a snow emergency route. So not only don't have to move your car off the street, but you're not eligible for free parking in the city deck anyway.

But I suspect you already know that and are just looking for a reason to complain and to be the center of attention. (Oh, woe is you!)

  12. Anon 6:09,

What about those people that live at 14th and Northampton? Do they live on the snow emergency routes?

  13. Vazquez not chosen. Cathy Reuscher was chosen.

  14. I saw. Good choice. Wonder if all the work done by Dolan defeated her own choice.

  15. The Hole of the valley know why Allentown pa has declared an emergency? This is due to allentowns asset sale on craigslist? Even the heavy equipment is gone, salt that was sold before winter started? The city without a clue and the king is just a cardboard cut out except cardboard is not GLUTTONOUS?

Correct me if I am wrong but nondisclosure of information is a crime as well as false information due to drastic miscalculation can be CONstrewed as theft by deception? Lets see if your sack is intact Bernie cause I think mr molovinsky lost his?

  16. Getting rid of the equipment needed to deal with a snowstorm would be criminally irresponsible, but it is also irresponsible to make accusations with absolutely no proof. If you don't have some good evidence that we can check out, I would not blame MM for refusing to allow you to make this accusation.
