Stephanie Merlo, a volunteer volleyball coach at Pius X High School accused of inappropriate sexual behavior with a 17 year old student, has resigned her seat on Bangor Borough Council. David Houser, a Council member who publicly called for her resignation, announced that Borough Council unanimously agreed to accept her letter of resignation at their reorganization meeting last night.
Merlo stands accused of corrupting the morals of a minor as well as having sexual contact with her. She is free on $75,000 unsecured bail and awaits a February 12 preliminary hearing before District Judge Todd Strohe.

Under Merlo's own admission, she supplied this student with marijuana. That's a crime, and she resigned, as she should have.

It's not case closed. Your heading of your article calls her a pedophile, which i don't believe a 28 year old dating a 17 year old is pedophilia. And yet you defended stolz who was ROMANTIC at 20 in a position of power with a 15 year old. You said he shouldn't have had to resign, why is that? Also Rudas had a 3 year old naked in a bathtub on his pc along with other child porn. All i ask from the talking heads in this area is to be consistent Bern. You can't just attack people you don't like because you don't like their lifestyles and defend friends who've done the same or worse!

ReplyDeleteThat makes her a child. Merriam-Webster defines pedophilia as a sexual perversion in which children are the preferred sexual object. Any person in high school is, in my opinion, a child. Any person under the age 18 is considered a minor. You are being pedantic.
