LWV Reminders For Election Day

Beverly Hernandez of Northampton County's League of Women Voters reminded the audience at last week's County Council debate that no identification is required for today's election. You cannot be forced to produce ID.

Let me add that, if you are prevented from voting because there's some mix up with your address or for any reason, you can still cast a provisional ballot.

Here is a Northampton County voter guide. A guide for other races is at LWV webpage.

Finally, if you see any voter intimidation (especially Spanish speaking electors) or any language access issues during the election, you can contact the state League of Women Voters lawyer below.

  3. Word on the street is to expect an upset of seismic proportions in Northampton County.

Republicans will even be surprised by their success.

  4. voter suppression is an excuse for this absurdity of no voter ID required, which combined with knock and drag, is ripe for voter fraud.

  6. What is considered normal in the "vote early & vote often" method?

Also, I just saw a post from Mike Schlossberg on Facebook where he is delivering donuts to all of the voting precincts in his district, nice gesture Mike but at "Taxpayer Expense"?

  7. @8:57, yes, although he is indeed a very expensive donut boy, like the allentown city council candidates, he was unopposed in his election to harrisburg last time.

I am not particularly troubled by an ID requirement, though there is absolutely no evidence that fake voters vote. But I am disturbed by the "knock and drag" accusation, which appears to suggest that people should be prohibited from canvassing neighborhoods in support of candidates. That is core political speech, is protected under out Constitution, and your smug disdain for it is evidence that what really bothers you is democracy.

  10. I've been critical of Schlossberg, who has had pretty much everything handed to him and does not really have any understanding of the problems his constituents face. But to see him anonymously attacked for delivering doughnuts to volunteers inside and outside the polls is just ridiculous. If he were using taxpayer funds, he would be prosecuted. Instead of knocking Schlossberg, why not do something nice yourself for once in your life? Amazingly it is people like you and MM, who deride person for doing something good, who scream that the government has no business feeding the poor bc we should rely on the private sector. I'd hate to rely on your largesse.
