Saveri Out at Bangor Borough Council

Bangor Borough Council member Marino Saveri stepped down from Borough Council tonight, in a letter read onto the record during their regular meeting. His term was set to expire at the end of 2015, but he reportedly is moving. His resignation from Council will automatically remove him from Bangor Borough Authority as well.

Corrected and Updated 12:30 PM: In an earlier version, I told you Saveri's term is up this year. That is incorrect. His term is up at the end of 2015. My thanks to a reader who pointed out my error.

Saveri..had 2 years left on his council seat term. Craig Roberts is leaving the boro and moving out of the area. Mr. Roberts did not resign last night and his term on council ends at the conclusion of 2013. Saveri did resign and his council rep. seat on the boro authority will be taken by Ken Brewer til the end of 2013. Saveri's seat and remaining term will be filled by council after advertising the opening to the public within the allowed 30 day period.

  4. 2:58 pm- You are incorrect. Saveri is her boss in real life. The heat is being turned up on the activities of the Borough Authority. They have allowed illegal dumping of contaminated soil at the Business Park. They are also planning a secret sale of borough propertty. A new mayor and council members who live near the site will be asking many questions of Saveri and other autourity members.
Expect the lawyer John Molnar to collect a BIG bill for his legal work. He loves to bill the tax-payer. They are thick as thiefs.

  5. Id like to know how much Attorney John Molnar is paid by Bangor?

  6. He is not paid by Bangor borough. He is paid by the Authority and is their solicitor. He rec'd 125K in compensation last year as per the 2012 Audit report from the Authority.

  7. And by the way..Saveri is still employed by the Authority as an administrator. All he gave up was his board seat as a representative of boro council. Bonnie LaBar is the other boro rep. on the Authority board. Her term as rep. ends at the end of 2013.

  8. I was told that boro council reps on the bangor Boro Authority are paid $200 per month, but I have no idea if that is true.

I have no idea why you have a hot nut for Molnar, a very able attorney, but all you need do is file a RTK request. That's a public record.

  10. They..boro rep's.. are not allowed by boro code to get paid over and above their regular council salaries. Board appointees are currently getting $200 a month. Mrs. LaBar seems to be unaware of that caveat as she takes money from the Authority and does not take her boro check as she is supposed to do. Authority pays more than council so she cashes the Authority check every month.

  11. ???

Why doesn't someone report that to the state ethics commission?

  12. That fact was just recently discovered. Mrs. LaBar does whatever she wants to do and the Authority is complicit as well as that board. They write their own rules and do as they please..the public be damned.

  13. Will Mrs. LaBar return all the money she was not entitled to receive? Two years at $100 a month is at the end of this year..$2400.

  14. And she has been over there at the Authority for more than 2 years now that I think of it.Could be a substantial amount of tax payer money that she had no right to receive.

  15. Ethics commission? Call the DA.

  16. Bernie..you have no idea of the dirty little secrets in Bangor. Dig a little and you will find a cesspool of good old boys and gals who have run this town as their own little kingdom for decades on end. Change is coming..

  17. There was change, between 2000-2009 there was positive vibe in towne. But the last 4 years we have seen it go downhill again. 1 step forward 2 steps back.

  18. LaBar has been at the Authority as a council rep. for 4 years come 1/2014 That adds up to more than $4,800 she has received illegally from the tax payers of Bangor. Does anybody care? She is the queen and can do as she wishes..screw the peasants.

  19. The boro authority is complicit in this fraud and misappropriation of funds. They let this go on and never once took action to follow the laws of Pa. They issued her a check for 4 straight years. Give the money back Bonnie before it gets turned over to the DA.

  20. Bonnie Labar is an angel compared to Marino Saveri. Saveri created his own job at the authority. His conflict of interest is criminal, and the amount of money is huge compared to the small change paid to Labar. Saveri and Molnar are the real crooks!

  22. Saveri also cashed the Authorities checks for a long time until they finally hired him as administrator a few years ago. He also owes the tax payers for all those checks he cashed instead of his council compensation which he was only entitled to get. RTK requests are on the way to the Authority. Nowhere to hide for either of these public servants. Quitting council will not save you from the truth.
