Bechtel Building Sold?

Northampton County consultant Ken Mohr has just asked Council to meet in executive session to discuss some "good news" concerning the Bechtel Building. He added he missed a finance committee meeting yesterday because of his involvement in some matter that will please them.

County Council is depending on the sale of its Wolf and Bechtel buildings to fund the centralized human services building in  Bethlehem Township.

But this matter must be discussed openly. Under the state Sunshine Act, leases and the purchase of real estate may be discussed in executive session, but for some reason, sales must be discussed publicly.

  1. Lets hope they follow the sunshine act. This act has been trampled on by many districts, municipalities, counties, etc. It is good news though

    1. I believe that the srgent can be made that the sale of Bechtel is integrally related to the lease.

  2. Lets also hope that name the new building the "Bechtel Building". No one in this county including Hartzell, Seyfried, Reibman, Stoffa, nor Brackbill did more for this County in Human Services than did Martin Bechtel. The Bechtel Building should never have been sold in the first place. It provides a service to a community that gets most of the services in the first place. This whole thing is nothing more than a political sham that takes care of Ken Mohr because he is friends with Stoffa. You did not save money, you did not expand services, you did not cut staff, you took care of a political hack.

  4. Mr. Gregory was harassed on h9os job because he had the courage to speak the truth about the Stoffa/Mohr scam that gave us the unneeded multimillion dollar leased building in the middle of an Industrial Park loaded with other empty buildings.

  5. Gregory is a woman beater who just spent three weeks on jail. He is incapable of being honest, and you lack the courage to identify yourself.

  7. Gregory loved the Bechtel Building because he could leave the office at 3 and go home and nobody would know. In the new building he`d have to work a full day.

  10. "If it is beingsold, where is the public bid process?"

You mean auction? That's no way to bring in the biggest bang. That's a way to ensure that the people get screwed. This is being handled the right way, but you can certainly make your objections known in person instead of anonymously.

  11. How many developers has the admin reached out to? If you don't know, then you're giving stoffa a pass on the same lack of transparency you kill others for.

  12. It's certainly no secret that the Bechtel bldg has been on the market. This had been openly discussed on numerous occasions. As I've already indicated, a public auction is a way to guarantee that the lowest price is paid and taxpayers are screwed. But you can certainly make your displeasure with the process known at the next Council meeting. If five of them agree, it won't be sold. Of course, you will have to tell th who you are.

  13. Should not have been allowed in Executive Session. A sale is public information.

Would the Press please wake up and do your job.
