LVPoliblog: Guridy, Mota in Trouble in Allentown
Actually, they are well-known bobbleheads, and are going to become even more unpopular when they rubber stamp Mayor Edwin Pawlowski's water deal, even though it is with a public entity. Instead of shining a public spotlight on his complete lack of transparency, they have enabled him. Most recently, they muzzled prominent Allentown businessman Richard Fegley during a supposed public meeting.
The Kim Velez candidacy can become a rallying cry for all those who are upset with Pawlowski's strong arm tactics. Speaking of that, her hearing for ballot access is on Wednesday.

palolousy and his band of rubber stamps have gone to far this this time. their arrogance will get them tossed.

Thanks
Where is her hearing. Can the public attend?
ReplyDeleteWhat have these two candidates done for the Latino community? Are less or more city residents hungry and
ReplyDeletescared?
This is the best no news weekend accross the board bernie¿ The gag/wfmz are just white noise in the background in compairison to MM and and yourself of corse!
ReplyDelete7:23, Wednesday, 9:30 AM, Judge Varricchio.
ReplyDeleteVerricchio is another one that sit in the judge seat because of an appointment to this official position¿ Just like the past prez court jester DeAmoe as part of a cover-up for criminal act commited from a hamilto st vendor. The first because of her lack of overseeing a tratment courtorder by her that was never completed and overlooked preditory stalking that now involes assualt and midical neglect of small children because the father suffers from mental health issues, she is alao the one that made another assault and strongarm robbery be burried with legal papperwork¿
DeleteGlazier is a total stool. He was a stool at the School Board and he is a stool on City Council.
ReplyDeleteVelez isn't even bothering to campaign. If she is on the ballot, she has wasted the last several weeks NOT talking to voters while long-shots like Carmen Bell and Alfonso Todd are pounding on doors seemingly every day. Morning Call coverage won't help any candidate. If Velez wants this seat, she needs to be talking to voters. She could earn my vote but she has to earn it. Todd and Bell have mine b/c they earned it
ReplyDeleteBernie, I have heard that Ms. Mota is in The Peoples Republic of Venezuela suffering from Shingles and is Quarantined
ReplyDeleteThat is what was reported in the Morning Call. Quarantine for shingles does not last long, and I wish her well and a speedy recovery.
ReplyDelete11:05am, I'd be happy to speak to you. Please identify yourself so I know who to reach out to.
ReplyDeleteKim, campaign! Go knock on doors. Make phone calls. No other candidate needed an invitation to come to my house and ask for my vote.
ReplyDeleteShe asked you to ID yourself. You declined.
ReplyDelete1:37
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if you attended the most recent council meet, but Kim was there, she was the last speaker on the podium and boy did she give Julio an ear full, she called him out and exposed him for what he is. Do you need anymore convincing then that?
Can't wait for the Dems to financially bankrupt our great country, at that point martial law will be put in place afterwards we will move to a one party system. Got my bug out kit ready and my family will be protected from the inevitable hordes of trough feeders that empty out of our urban areas. So by all means accelerate the process voters of Allentown by electing dems over patriots like Tony Simao and Tom Carroll.
ReplyDeleteTea Party Footsoldier
@1:37, you must have quite a magical address, if all the candidates came to your door; and all the other candidates must have enormous energy to knock on allentown's 20,000 houses. how bernie tolerates morons and their dribble is beyond me.
ReplyDeleteIt's my vote, Kim. I guess you don't need it. I'll use it for Bell, Todd and probably Hendricks (they've all knocked on my door). If Kim knocks on my door, I'll be back to say so. I'm not voting for the incumbents, but if challenges think they can get votes by simply not being incumbents, they will probably lose.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Tea Bagger foot solider. Oh, to return to the enlightened reign of Bush/Chaney.
ReplyDeleteI do have admittedly low standards as i am a bottom-feeder myself. But I just deleted a comment from the Blog Mentor, aimed at MM.
ReplyDeleteDuring the mid to late fifties the Lehigh Valley was predominately agricultural in both
ReplyDeleteorientation and thought. The then existing industrial complex being primarily concentrated in the cities (that is, Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton in Pennsylvaniaand Phillipsburg in New Jersey) and a few outlying suburban communities. I note
the heart of this four county industrial complex comprised the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, New Jersey Zinc Company, Ingersoll-Rand, Mack Trucks, Air Products &
Chemicals, Lehigh Portland Cement and Western Electric ( evolving from AT & T Technologies, Lucent Technologies, to Agere Technologies and to LSI).
How many of these corporations have a large prescene in the Metropolitan statistical area today.
In the same mid to late fifties period there stood a lonely candle-like building protruding upward into the sky like a beacon for progress. This was the corporate
headquarters for the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company located at 9th & Hamilton Streets in downtown Allentown. It was the area's only skyscraper then, easy to see day
or night, in an empty and seemingly undeveloped land that could not comprehend or
visualize that P.P & L would become a very strong advocate or ally for planned industrial development activities and home development activities that would
forever change the long-term economic usage of land resources that can be best described as sacred and irreplaceable.
In late years the PPL Tower was joined by Martin Towers in Bethlehem. But that tower stands empty as a symbol of the retreat old style manufactuturing in the Lehigh Valley
And now, a new challenger cometh to sit virtually beside the old Art Decco tower.
Politicians come and go. Surely some on the current Council might be shown the door.
Of course I won't be shown the door because I never was allowed to enter the door.
I beg the pardon of a challenger in this year's race. You say that you can do better. I know I could do better.
Dennis Pearson
Nice post Dennis, why aren't you running?
ReplyDeleteIt's funny reading the repetitive head banging of the 99-percenters as they carry water for the 1%, hoping to catch a few crumbs from the rich dudes they just sucked off with no taxes for life. That's how enlightened bottoms get satisfied. The bruised foreheads and funny gaits are telltale signs. That, and the foul odor.
ReplyDeleteWow that is a lot of sexual innuendo packed into one post, do you have fantasies of fellatio and sodomy throughout the day or only when you think of fleabaggers?
ReplyDeleteI am a regular reader and anonymous poster here, I have to say that Kim Velez has lost my vote as well. I think what happened to her was HORRIBLE and UNACCEPTABLE and I believe she deserves to be back on the ballot.
ReplyDeleteKim will not get my vote because, there is no sympathy vote in a race like this... Allentown is in trouble and that is obvious. The people who are willing to put in the work to raise awareness, talk to constituents and be involved in what is going on in the city are the ones that will get my vote. I am glad she was at Wednesdays council meeting - good for her, that doesn't constitute work.
Many people said she was naive and far too easily persuaded to withdraw her petitions. I defended her... I truly believed that Brennan scared her and that she reacted out of pressure and manipulation and I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, her disinterest in campaigning and creating awareness, being involved in what is going on and speaking out in multiple forums (not just one council meeting), have led me to believe that maybe some of the initial opposition that I rebutted was correct afterall. Maybe she's not ready. She won't get a sympathy vote from me. She has to earn my vote by running an honest and hardworking campaign to reach the PEOPLE where they are.
Honestly? I am truly disappointed in her. It is what it is, you live and learn guess...
Sadly,
me
@9:48, you're the same subversive worm i reprimanded before. she never had your machine vote, and never will. you want more campaigning out of someone who at the moment even isn't on the ballot. you say honestly? not at all. but you are a sad sack.
ReplyDelete@ 9:48, Don't be so sad just yet! There's PLENTY of campaign time left and a lot has been happening that we may not even know about. Stay tuned, the viewpoints of this challenger are worth waiting to hear about.
ReplyDeleteShe can't campaign till they put her back on the ballot.
ReplyDeleteMM - i am sorry but you are wrong... I will email you directly with my actual identity - but i am not who you think I am ;)
ReplyDeleteThere is time left to campaign I agree but I still stand firm that she shouldn't have stopped campaigning :)
@Michael
ReplyDeleteShe is against the water lease. There is nothing preventing her while she waits to hear from the judge to go door to door to talk about it with concerned citizens.
Here is the thing about the water lease and other issues in Allentown. You can disagree with Ed and the rest of City Council and think they are doing an awful job. Until you are willing to actually sit down with like minded people and hit the streets door to door finding more like minded people Ed and the rest of City Council are going to stay right where they are.
I have been sitting with like minded people for the past month discussing alternative solutions for the water/sewer lease as well as having discussions around the news that the highest bid came from LCA. Im not sure why people here are commenting that I haven't been having these important discussions just because I have not knocked on their door personally. Where do you live and when will you be home. Although my goal is to speak to everyone, I'd rather hit the doors of those that already care and have questions about my candidacy. Thank you.
