Russin Tossed Off Bethlehem Tp Ballot

Failure to file a Statement of Financial Interests with Bethlehem Township has proved fatal to Democrat Raymond Russin. He was removed from the ballot following a brief hearing today before Senior Judge Lawrence Brenner. Russin was absent and did not contest the challenge. Russin had challenged the seat held by incumbent Commissioner Paul Weiss, a Republican.

Objections to Russin were filed by fellow Democrat Suzanne Robertson. She was represented by Easton Attorney Brian Monahan. Prior to the hearing, Northampton County Democratic Chair Walt Garvin advised Monahan that Russin would not appear.

  3. Does this mean Abe can't try to have this reversed? You know he's not happy unless he's suing someone.

  7. Dear Ms.Weiss, Years ago on that road you live on , a petition was signed by most all of residents on the road not to have street lights that cost the tax payers money.Even E.G.Baily the founder of the Baily Meter Company ,he dealt with ADM Rickover on the NUCLEAR SUB in history.VP of the Babcocks/ Wilcocks Company Inc . The man was a genius helped me with my algebra that I kept failing , he was worth at least $100 M USD with a coal to gasoline patent the GERMANS used during the 2nd WW with out paying him of coarse plus 20 others ,knew Kettering well and Pres. Nixon would call him on the phone at the house - but had time for me, Pete, on a bicycle. Look him up on Google. Any way those Knuckleheads in Miller Heights ran the show and brought us street lights that would intern be shot out with shot guns ,and around we went. Now that was BTWP politics in the old days.Keep things in perspective .

  8. This is ridiculous. Folks who run for office should be able to turn in their financial statements to the voter registration office with their petitions. Why is this a requirement anyway?

  9. Because we have a right to know where they get their money, where they owe money and who is giving them little presents.

  10. Not everyone can make it to the voter reg office.

  11. the statement of financial is a two copy carbon form, election law states that one copy is filed with the petition at the voter registration office and the other copy gets filed with the government agency for which you are petitioning to be a candidate, in this case, Bethlehem Township.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
