Who's Running For Bethlehem City Council?
So aside from Dolan and Evans, who else is running?
I've heard Jason Toedter, who worked for Callahan when he ran for Congress. I know mortgage consultant Sam Rohrer is also eyeing up a bid.
Hear any names?

Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
It will be good to get the two obstuctionists off of council. jb has no clues left. r there skeletons in DGs closet?
ReplyDeleteMark... We all have skeletons, but I think people feel that DG's business experience would be a good fit for Controller and a great check over the next mayor.
ReplyDeleteI only wish Dolan was retiring. She has been a disastere.
ReplyDeletehow hard is it to be the ex vp of a pretzel factory?
ReplyDeleteWith the exception of Karen Dolan, all the worst members are up for replacement this time. Hopefully some younger, more pro-growth, pro-business competition, development-friendly folks will jump in and primary DiGiacinto and Evans. Maybe the Bethlehem Food-Co-op activists can be persuaded to run a 3-person slate of progressives.
ReplyDeleteHeard that a Callahan not named John has been going to meetings. Royer has been going, too.
ReplyDeleteCallahan's brother, Brian, has been going to meetings and just might decide to run.
ReplyDeleteJon Geeting,
ReplyDeleteDolan can make meetings last twice as long as they should, and that drives me nutz. But when i go to write them up, I learn that she's usually right on the money. I did not care for her anti-Catholic remarks, though. That was downright bizarre. Bethlehem certainly is not a Catholic town, as she seems to suggest. It would be fair to say it is a Christian town, but a tolerant one.
Dave DiDiacinto is the one Council member who is willing to ask questions. I would think that might just make him its MVP. Your disdain for him even more valuable.
Eric Evans and Dave GiGiacinto are everywhere. I see them at planning and zoning meetings, especially when something is controversial.
Evans, like DiGiacinto and Dolan, are all hard-working and appear to have no agenda other than doing their best for Bethlehem. The City is lucky to have three such dedicated public servants, although Karen should drop the smears at specific faiths or the claims of religious favoritism. That's just silly.
dg hates Callahan and most of his questions are merely attemps to discredit anyone and everyone in the administration. He plays too many games.
ReplyDeleteO'Hare doesn't Royer live in Hanover Township. He ran against Narlesky.
ReplyDeleteHe's dangerous!
Royer moved to Bethlehem. What makes him dangerous? The fact that he ran against Narlesky? The fact that he is a Republican?
ReplyDeleteGod Bernie, the lovefest is getting sick. Willys qualifications, a hot girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteYou are really camping up Bethlehems butt at this point.
What I am doing is being fair. They are both decent guys. They are both qualified. They both get a lot of shit, most of it anonymously. The reality is that Bethlehem has a pretty good Council. Bob and Willie are both good candidates, and if you disagree, this is America and you can run yourself.
ReplyDeleteHey Bern....how come no mention of local business owner Bob Sigley rumor has it He is also jumping in the race
ReplyDeletenow that would be an asset finally a real business person.....
Sigley, the garbage man? A Pro-Private hauler campaign?
ReplyDeleteIs he the same Sigley who was convicted of arson a few years back?
How long has Royer lived in Bethlehem? Is there a residency requirement for council?
ReplyDeleteI hope no stinking Catholics try to run.
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
Karen Supporter
2:33, I am sure that Royer will meet whatever the residency requirement is, or will not run. Don't know it myself.
ReplyDeleteKaren Supporter, I don't think Karen is anti-Catholic in the least, but her remarks could be taken that way.
ReplyDeleteAny newcomers being mentioned?
ReplyDeleteApparently Callahan's brother is definitely running...He'd be a lock cause of name recognition. If DiGiacinto runs for Controller than they'll be another opening..Dolan and Evans will win..No Republican has a chance unless they work incredibly hard and spend alot of money...maybe Dana Grubb will run again..If so, he'd do well.
