Lisa Scheller New Chair of Lehigh Comm'rs?

Lehigh County insiders tell me that Lisa Schelller has the five votes needed to take over the reins of its Board of Commissioners. Brad Osborne, the current Chair, drew the wrath of its largely conservative membership when he went along with Executive Bill Hansell's veto of a budget that would have slashed $5 million from emplyee compensation. At the time, members like Vic Mazziotti and Scheller were upset that Osborne participated in a news conference announcing the veto, without letting thm know.

A Morning Call reporter who regularly covers Lehigh Coiunty's Board of Commissioners has called them a bunch of "whackos."

  1. I can only imagine how the Morning Call reporter has been described.

At least they now smell her coming in NorCo, thanks to you.

  8. 5:22, Not sure what point you're trying to make.

  9. I hope she gets it and she will do a terrific job. She has a backbone and isn't afraid to use it.

  10. Lisa as Marie Antoinette.

    Lisa is Leona Hensley.

  11. How about the sad showing at the Norco organizational meeting this afternoon? Only 4 council members showed up with Peg Ferraro calling in from overseas. With that, Cusick was re-elected as council prez with 3 votes. A landslide!

  12. I see. Wasn't she one of the people who advocated letting everyone speak more than 3 minutes at a recent Comm'r meeting? Her ideology is certainly not mine, but I'm not getting the analogy. To be honest, I see more elitism from the left, especially among young urbanistas like Jonathan Geeting.

  13. The election is illegal. I was at a basketball game, which takes priority in my book. But any action on Council requires five votes - a majority of the Council - irrespective of how many are there. So Council has no President.

  14. If Norco's charter is the same as Lehigh's, then adoption of a resolution or motion only takes majority of those present and eligible to vote. Their solicitor deemed the election of pres and vp equivalent to a motion.

    ReplyDelete
  15. You'll take on Geeting.
But you'll treat Lisa with kid gloves.
Your afraid to take an honest assessment ol Lisa.
Too much power. Too much wealth,

  16. @4:59 and @7:16, cheap shots aren't true, just cheap shots. scheller only gets one vote on that commission, regardless of her personal finances. if you think other commissioners do her bidding because of her power, why don't you go to a meeting, stand up, say your name, and say so. instead you make anonymous slurs in a blog comment box.

  17. official Lisa "Rich by my daddies money" Scheller is the new chair, she better buy more hair dye as she is going to be a target now

    ReplyDelete
  18. 7:16, Considering that I accused Scheller of filing illegal campaign finance reports, and have accused her husband of outright lies, I have to laugh at your anonymous attack at me for not going along with your uninformed and uninspired commentary.

  19. 7:01, I disagree. A motion applies to procedure. This is an election and is substantive.

  20. Rich by my daddies money

Oh, I see. The same criticism as she worked her family's business and not her own, Even it that were true, so I take it you would never hire the son of a carpenter to work on your house.

And the hair die comment is not sexist? You'd have me believe!

How about keeping your critic to something of substance?

Sort of tells me why we're in the boat we're in!

  21. The reform team honored and humbled Lisa because victor and Steve didn't want the position themselves.

What Commissioner is in 2nd command as that person will preside over the meetings when Lisa goes on her required business trips.

  22. I have reservation for a person that consider rejecting pass through grants for municipalities because of an ideological thinking that Governrnent can do not good, but had no problem accepting and promoting a $340K Stimulus grant for solar panels for a commercial business. Not to mention the fact that another County accepted and invested in job re-training grants for employees that it laid off. Don’t worry, they are well positioned with a new plant in China. The message that sends is that Federal spending is good for them, but not for you.

BTW, I though Conservatives believe green energy is a waste of money, has no benefits to business, and does not grow American jobs. I guess part of that is true if the electronics are foreign made.

  23. I know many conservatives who are environmentalists as well and who probably support green energy more than you, who are just trying to make political points.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Name some local conservatives who support sane, simple environmental initiatives unless they are getting a direct pay off. ( Dr Dockerty, but I would consider him more of a moderate,a relative liberal in that den of Tea Bags.)

@8:45 Point well taken. Bernie has no answer.

    Another anonymous Coward

  25. Lisa is a hypocrite plan and simple. She is against all government grants. Unless of course they directly benefit her privately held company.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Bernie knows many conservatives who are environmentalists.
    Ya gotta love da guy,eh?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Scott Armstrong is a proud conservative who has championed many many environmental causes.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Percey has a degree in Geology and I suspect has more environmental awareness and believes in science over talking points. He was an excellent chair too.

Using stimulus grants to install solar panels to reduce energy cost of a business my be a good strategy, however, is a prime exple of "you didn't build that.". The taxpayers did. I would have preferred energy efficiency grants be given to mumicipalities over profitable hospitals and commercial businesss. At least that investment would have real savings to taxpayers year after year.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Some on this blog bashed Obama and Solindra. One can only imagine if the Solindra outcome would have been different if the Stimulus did not put some priorities for American made products. After all, it was US taxpayer investment.

This kills me. At 3:13, I am asked to name some conservatives who support green energy, and am immediately told that I have no answer from some intolerant anonymous asshole who doesn't give a shit about green energy and is trying to score political points.

Ron Beitler, a local environmentalist and green growth guy who fights Dave Jaindl on everything, is a conservative.

So is Charlie Dent (a right of center moderate), who has actually VOTED for tax credits for green energy.

But like I said, you don't give a shit about the environment. You're just a partisan hack. And a coward on top.

    ReplyDelete
  31. BOH936. I like Ron but he was a blue dog Dem who changed party affiliation to "give Republicans a choice."

It is true that Dent did vote against some spending cuts for renewable energy.

    ReplyDelete
  32. As far as I am concerned, Ron still is a blue dog Dem and gets more support from them than he ever has from blue blood Rs. Or is it blue haired?

Personally, I don't really see much of a difference between LV Dems and Rs. Maybe in Western LC.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ron B. in L.Co. Is one. Charlie an environmentalist? Hardly.

I could think of several others. Several. Out of thousands.

But no matter. Bernie always right on this blog.
( Tell us more about how Obama won the election through massive voter fraud. I love that story. Or about bipartisanship in the Republican Party. That's always a favorite too.)

    ReplyDelete
  34. BOH calling someone a partisan hack, that's freaking great...... You've made it dude. If Bernie says so.
He's the guy with the partisan hack rolodex.
    Congratulations, you have arrived.

    Anon coward II
