Allentown's First Ever Youth Chess Tournament
I have seen the kids (and their parents) play Chess during Summer basketball tournaments in downtown Allentown. If you're interested in helping or know someone who'd like to play, contact Peter Bond.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
Bernie, there is chess for youth available in allentown on a regular basis via the LVCA. Available for youth as well as open divisions. See http://www.lehighvalleychessclub.org/LVCA_Home.html
ReplyDeleteNot sure why this event would get "first ever" status.
And for those interested, the LV Scholastic Championships are this Saturday at Nor Community College, both age based and USCF rated divisions
I gave it that billing bc it is the first ever that is actually in Allentown. I am aware of the chess tournament at NCC, which is great and a big tradition. I'd love to see some of these kids play there. But it's a lot of dough for many of them.
