You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
congratulations to South whitehall for having the vision and balls to do what so many are afraid to partake in....protecting their residents and business owners
ReplyDeleteNo shortage of deposits to law firms!
ReplyDeleteLet me guess, Broughal & DeVito?

ReplyDeleteDon't ya just love "Free Advertising", just like you and your lawsuit, free press everywhere!
ReplyDeleteJust like A-town is diverting EIT from where it belongs, you're trying to divert attention away from the topic.

ReplyDeleteHi Bernie -
ReplyDeleteEven though the arena won't directly benefit the bank account of South Whitehall Township, won't it positively affect the people who live in the Township?
Whether a person lives in the West End of Allentown or a few blocks away in South Whitehall, they will still have the benefit of a revitalized downtown and a new hockey arena.
I can't imagine this is going to cost the average South Whitehall citizen more than a couple dollars per year. It seems to me that if we forget the finger pointing and politics this is a win-win situation for all of us who live in the Lehigh Valley.
urban LV,
ReplyDeleteI am going to be publishing the comments of Don Frederick and Mr. Roma in a few minutes. They are commercial developers, and will answer your question. will answer your question. It goes way beyong the EIT tax diversion. It will depress commercial real estate value, meaning these owners will seek assessment reductions, meaning less tax revenue from commercial. It will be made up by taking the money from residential owners with tax hikes.
Crony Capitalism is definitely a win-win for the Brooks Brothers ...
ReplyDelete... and it's only $ 160.0 million dollars, after all!
I definitely want my Social Programs and my Palace of Sport, too!
I say, make the greedy, evil Rich pay their fair share ... and all this messy stuff magically disappears.
