Keep Pawlowski Away From the Computer

The following email exchange, between former Morning Call reporter Dick Cowen and Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski, takes Hizzoner to task.

Pawlowski's DCED Director, Sara Hailstone, commended LV Congressman Charlie Dent at a recent cardboard check ceremony.

I guess she was supposed to bite the hand that feeds her, at least according to Dick.

What amazes me, more than anything, is King Edwin's poor spelling and grammar. In a recent Right-to-Know request, the City told me Hizzoner had no email exchanges with Senator Pat Browne, State Rep. Jennifer Mann or J.B. Reilly concerning the NIZ.

Now I know why.

(Blogger's Note: I redacted Hailstone's private email address.)

Dick:

Since I wasn't their I asked Sara what she said at the event, below is her response. What she stated was actual truth, he has advocated for increased CDBG and HOME funding. I don't agree with him on every issue but on this one what she Sid was true. The rest is just being professional and courteous.

Hope this answers your question.

Nothing political.  Cordial and appropriate.

Mayor,
I guess the Democrats should forget about running for Congress what with the ringing endorsement Sarah Hailstone gave Charlie Dent at the check presentation yesterday on Allen Street.

  1. looks to me that Mayor Ed just let spell check run wild on the email. Bigger question is why are reporters openly goading the Mayor?

  2. Do a Google search on Sara Hailstone. Enough said.

  3. shows how superficial and biased cowen was as a reporter.

  4. While the spell checker wasnt his friend on this, it shows a side that people often accuse pawlawski of not having. He is often accused of being hyper political and ambitious. Here, he shows a side that is willing to put politics aside. Mr Cowan would learn well not to mix campaign politics w this stuff.

By the way, the new platform is mobile friendly. Thank you.

  5. The atrocious construction of his communication cannot be blamed on a failure to understand spell check. It's clear he is a blithering idiot and wasted the money that was spent to educate him. If his language arts abilities are this pathetic, it's easy to understand his complete lack of math skills. This would be funny, if not so tragic. His communication is written at a second grade level. He is either demonstrably learning disabled or borderline mentally retarded. Shocking.

  8. Pretty much.

If the guy can't spell or put together a simple sentence, I have to wonder whether he can run a city. But there's a few other things going on here.

    * Dick Cowen is obviously a rabid partisan who does not want anything out there that might make Dent look good. As Molovinsky points out, it makes one wonder how "objective" he was.

    * Pawlowski felt some need to answer this drivel, but does not respond to others with real questions about the NIZ

  9. Ha ha!

    Dumber than dirt ...

This shocking lack of basic spelling speaks very poorly to credibility, I would have to imagine, so, perhaps, we all should be expecting a lecture from Future Downtown Arena Attendee shortly to hopelessly spin this?

  12. You guys are a bunch of goofs. Seriously, we are going to critique somebody by how he/she responds via email? If folks want to go down that path, I suppose we can start pointing the drivel that Angle spewed and use that to critique his fitness for office.

Emails are not high school or college term papers. They are a quick and passive method of communication. If it doesn't fit in a Tweet, it's probably not worth emailing.

  13. "Seriously, we are going to critique somebody by how he/she responds via email?"

I'd have to see a few, but Yes. if he can't put together a simple sentence, I question his ability to run a city. As for Angle, he is criticized all the time, even for things he does not do.

  14. Nice try 9:40. But his email catastrophe goes well beyond the venial sins of today's electronic shorthand. He really must be learning disabled or of very low intelligence. This is shocking. He really is stupid. Now, there is proof.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Bernie, you typically have a standard: attack somebody on a personal level (intelligence), have the balls to put a name to your attacks. It's pathetic to see people posting without name some of these comments, whether it be about Angel or Pawlowski.

But hey, in the world today, I would expect nothing less.

  16. Future Downtown Arena Attendee, aka Anon 9:40 :

Do you have the courage, not to mention, power, to make Chairman Pawlowski's high school and college term papers available to the public?

I will bet YOU a pair of season tickets to the Phantoms at the magnificent $ 160.0 million dollar Palace of Sport ...

... that these writings from the Chairman are riddled with blatant spelling errors Kindergartners routinely avoid.

Are you all in or what?

    Please adjust accordingly, post haste.

And purchase your season tickets to see Chairman Pawlowski's pucksters throwing haymakers on Hamilton Street NOW!

    Thank you.

  18. Ed's a real dummy. That's not a personal attack. That's a valid observation based upon public information. Bernie, please use RTK again and again and again to show us that the emperor has no clothes and first grade grammar skills. You couldn' t write anything as humorous on your best day. And you're really good! Also love the much improved mobile compatability. This blog rocks.

  23. Cowen appears to be just another leftist meber of the media with a major political bias, trying to smear an employee of the City doing her job. Cowen must think all City employees are extensions of his beloved political party. God forbid the staff at the City of Allentown not spit fire at their congressman simply because he has an "R" after his name. Cowen is despicable.

  25. P's response was obviously done on an iPhone and anyone that has one knows about the notorious auto-correct and the keyboard which is very easy to screw up on. You can tell it's an iPhone by his signature line.

  26. I'd have to see a few, but Yes. if he can't put together a simple sentence, I question his ability to run a city. As for Angle, he is criticized all the time, even for things he does not do.

It's ironic to see a grammatical mistake in BOH's reply.

Oh and since when does one have to be a rocket scientist to run Allentown? Bwahahahahaa

    ReplyDelete
  27. On an iPhone, the word "there" should still be spelled "there," doncha' think? But that can explain some of the other problems. I know the iPad can be a bitch with the auto-correct.

    ReplyDelete
  28. "It's ironic to see a grammatical mistake in BOH's reply."

    Fair enough.

  29. To the folks calling Pawlowski an idiot, consider the following:
-He was elected mayor in 2005
-He was overwhelmingly re-elected in 2009
-there are no apparent challengers for him in 2013

With these facts on record, I ask, what does that make you? You keep losing to an idiot. Where do you fall on the intelligence spectrum? If you can't beat an idiot, it doesn't speak well for your capacities.

    Just a thought.

And Bernie, you've been beating on Pawlowski for years now. If the guy is such an idiot, does it make you wonder where you stand?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Pawlowski's success in Allentown is a result of the fact that it is (1) a one-party town; (2) turnout is horrible; (3) the fleckster raids the homeless shelters to find campaign workers; and (4) pay-to-play politics, in which jobs and contracts are bought at the price of sustaining an unpopular and disliked man in office.

If Pawlowski were to run anywhere else, he loses. e could never win a county race, especially after this fiasco. And statewide? Dream on.

As for a third term, it's early.

As far as losing to idiots is concerned, I do not consider Pawlowski an idiot. I just think his grammar and spelling are bad. I was also unaware that I was the person who ran against him.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 2:10 Who the hell would want to be Mayor of Allentown. The smart people all live in the burbs.

    ReplyDelete
  32. What I find interesting is how quickly Pawlowski and Hailstone responded to Cowen. I mean, that is some SPEED. Nothing ever gets done in this city at such a rapid pace. Why does Cowen have Pawlowski so eager to please??

Regarding the grammar...well, I just don't think it's a big deal. Much ado...

    ReplyDelete
  33. monkey momma, i agree about pawlowski's spelling and grammar, it's a none issue. i think pawlowski's a smart guy, and very adept politically. i do not agree with his strategy and plans for allentown; past, present or future. dick cowen is influential in the old fairground neighborhood, and i suppose still has some connections with the morning call.

  34. The stench of this Palace of Sport will linger for years and years and years.

Pawlowski and his Crony Capitalists ARE geniuses.

Laughing all the way to the bank with YOUR money.

Allentown gets the Democrat politicians and the accompanying hacks that THEY voted for.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Perhaps he just did not care enough about having to respond to this Cowen that he didn't feel the need to spell check. It says, "This type of questioning is not worth my time or spell check."

If you ever see the text of his state of the city addresses, he always writes in shorthand or in some other not-100%-grammatically-correct way that denotes colloquialism, but it doesn't matter because he's reading his own notes (why they publish them is another story). Why does he use so many question marks though??????????

    ReplyDelete
  36. This whole $ 160.0 million dollar Palace of Sport thing is much ado about nothing, as well.

  37. Who ACTUALLY needs spell check to determine whether "there" or "their" needs to be applied?

    Sincerely,

    ReplyDelete
  38. The idiotic grammar puts his idiotic schemes in proper perspective. Dumb is as dumb does. His idiocy is certainly germane. His electoral success is a reflection of the electorate. The smart money left Allentown long ago.

  39. The mayor is wasting his time in Allentown...He should be elected to the Governor's Office, Congress or Senate of the United States.
