Cynthia Mota Sworn in By Man She Replaces

Allentown' first ever Latina Council person, Cynthia Mota, was sworn into office last night by the man she replaces on the board. Former Council Prez Michael D'Amore resigned once he himself was sworn in as a District Judge.

D'Amore forgot to wear his black dress for the occasion, which probably invalidates everything.

Dennis Pearson, who complained yesterday about being passed over, was among the first persons at the podium to offer his congratulations.

  1. Another of the manana minion leaks onto the political scene.

Hardly any money to pay the electric bill?

Wait until an unlimited budget magically appears for the first real election to this position.

  2. Bernie -

    She seems very nice.

However, she wasted little time in falling in line and asking no questions. At one point, when she was the first to vote, I think I heard Julio Guridy guiding her how to vote.

She'll fit in nicely with the others.

  3. That is correct. Guridy, like the honorous man he has, told her how to vote and she snapped right in line.

  4. In all fairness, it was the first vote of the night and she was the first person called on. And it was a procedural suspension of the rules for consideration of some non-important reorganization business, that would only happen once a year anyway.
