Who Are You Voting For ... Or Against?

What really bothers you this election cycle? Who are you voting for? Or against? Will the Gang of Four succeed in knocking off Dean Browning? Does anyone in Southern Lehigh School District merit a vote? Are the Wind Gap DJ candidates really that bad? Is Yetter ever going to stop complaining? Will Dowd be knocked off by a Republican running only on Gracedale? And speaking of Gracedale, does anybody think that pro-sale advocates will win the day? You can make your arguments or observations here.

  1. Here's what's bothering me. Southern Lehigh School Board officials misplacing more than $1M dollars and claiming ignorance.

  2. Like Pavlack for Judge. Like the other female candidate too, but Pavlack seems to shine this spring.
She's been everywhere, including even stopping by a small community health fair. She seems like a really good candidate. Saw her sit next to an opponent and both were gracious to one another. That meant a lot.

  3. I suspect all of the misinformed voters will come out in masses casting a "YES" for what amounts to union benefits. The flamethrowers will set fire to their own platoon.

A "NO" vote saves gracedale, nothing else

  4. Forget Browning. He could have donated a year's worth of food to the Second Harvest Food Bank for the money he's spent on those huge
    glossy handouts.

  5. I am attempting to urge all voters this Tuesday to cast a "NO" vote for the gracedale ballot initiative. This initiative has been set up by the unions, for the unions and funded by unions.

Along the way, election laws were broken, mocked and sideswiped by a special interest group representing union interests which include outrageous benefits and wages higher than the comparable private sector.

Also along the way, those conscious of the taxpayer purse have been summoned to court to defend their actions of preserving gracedale through a sale to a private company. The price tag is $35 million with a clause in the deed to keep it 85% indigent care.

This is a war about public sector unions overthrowing their government, and bucking their agenda onto a ballot, where it clearly has no place. Save Gracedale on tuesday by voting "NO."

Hey, I like that idea. Money is a pernicious evil in every race. I'm sure Browning, who sits on the board of Allentown Rescue Mission and spends untold hours and money there, would be happy to have spent all his campaign money to help the homeless and hungry if mega-gazillionaire Lisa Schaller and the rest of the Gang of Four were willing to make the same commitment.

That means something to me, too. It is nice (and refreshing) to hear.

  9. Brenda/Bernie, whatever your name is,
the 23,000 registered voters who signed petitions will have their say on Tuesday and support the residents and vote yes to keep this fine facility in County hands.

    ReplyDelete
  10. There never were 23,000 signatures, even under Baratta's ruling. By my count, there were about 13,000 legit signatures. The rest was election fraud.

  11. RE: Dean Browning, perhaps Bernie you could volunteer at the food bank to obtain partial absolution for your past misdeeds which led to your current miserable state. People who live in glass houses...

This is the problem with new management:

NC has tried this before and failed. New management can only be successful if they are tied to the bottom line. Simply paying others on the county dole will only incentivize the punch in-punch out mentality. And that is what we have now.No one there is concerned with profit or loss, only thier paychecks and plastic benefit cards

Someone wrote to you about the Call perhaps using a "false" photo for a headline story. Funny, the Call's changed the online photo and the comment section's been deleted. Hmmm.

  15. To be fair Bernie, wouldn't the Gang only have to donate 1/3 the total since Browning raised and spent twice as much? And, seriously, after all those mailers did he ever once actually defend his vote? Or is the high road covered in his smears of stretched facts and pure fictions? Didn't you call that tax hike vote courageous? Where was his courageous explanation?

Got 4 Browning Mailers in one day!
    Good Grief.

  18. WIND GAP DJ RACE !!!!
    5 REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES
3 of them are cops who have either been fired, demotted or suspended for bad conduct or suspicious activity.

the only two candidates with clean backgroubds are

BARBARA FITZGERALD an attorney and DA
    or

Michael Potope a Police oficer with
    a clean record.

  19. Amazing there could be so many bad candidates in one race.

  20. Spent all day writing up my picks I'm glad to see so many young people running in the school board races standing up for their political interests. I was worried they were going to stay asleep while seniors showed up in force to block tax increases, but at least there will be an opportunity to get a more balanced approach for next year's budget.

Regarding that Southern Lehigh School Board race and the missing $1M, apparently an employee error
and while that can happen, one must ask where was the Independent Auditor and why didn't the current school board members add the figures themselves rather than accepting anyone else's word as gospel? Some current school board members state they've been on board for years. Come on guys, step aside. Let someone new have a chance.

  24. Voting "no," likely in futility on the referendum. Although the Forks Township union-goonism on the Verizon guy and his innocent neighbors has unleashed a pleasantly surprising torrent of anti-union fervor. That Verizon union leader may end up doing great damage to Gracedale goldbricks because of his distasteful, bullying antics.

Having met three of the candidates for Wind Gap DJ, it's clear there's an embarrassment of riches among a slate of outstanding candidates. Doug Schlegal is well liked in Bushkill and has knocked on a zillion doors to personally explain his credentials and ask for votes. Medellin is personable and very sharp as well. I'm leaning Schlegal, but it looks like a race voters can't lose regardless of outcome. Refreshing in this day.

  25. If you live in the Wind Gap area go to:

    http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/elections/index.ssf/2011/05/six_candidates_in_the_race_for.html

It is very good about the candidates but they missed that Medellan was suspended in 2001 for sexual harassment of a Bangor woman. He was cop on the force and maried with 4 kids at the time

  26. "Absolutely! Woman's Prerogative"

I'm not sure what I'd call her, but I'd never make the mistake of calling Mary Ann Schmoyer a lady. Anybody who witnesses her behavior at County Council meetings and town halls would quickly agree.

  27. anyone except richley. He's just looking for another 10 years on the public dole.

    Pavlack looks good.

    At least Browning has balls.

    Roman gets my vote.

My 2 year old grandson before Martin.

By the way - 2nd harvest charges donors a stocking fee for the free food they get. that's why the Boy Scouts don't donate to them anymore. Talk about your sleaze ball non-profits.......

Take out Gracedale - the white elephant and albatross of norco

    What?

    Charges donors or recipients?
    What stocking fee? Please explain.
This is a serious charge if true
and one we need to find out is true or not.

  29. Will Sal Panto win the Republican primary by write-in to get the race over with? Many Easton Republicans think he will. In fact they even sent me a letter asking me to join along. It could be interesting.

We longtime donors. Not huge sums but we try and now to discover this is troubling. We're calling the office tomorrow.

  32. Gracedale..Vote Yes! for raise in your county taxes for the next 5 years instead of making 35 million, shutting down the union, keeping Gracedale under private means, getting tax money. The petitioning for Gracedale isn't to save the facility or it's residents it's to save the union AFSCME.

  33. anon 9:41, no one bought your bullshit song. the people will decide on Tuesday and the Angle/Stoffa bagger conspiracy will fall flat on its face.

  34. I'm sorry I don't want my taxes going up 30% to house a resident at Gracedale or run that facility. There are MANY great run private facilities as my grandmother and aunt are in a great run private facility. They are out there without the need to raise my taxes.

  35. when large donations are brought in, ie: the yearly scout drive 2nd harvest wants a stocking fee because of the extra labor for the huge donation of FREE canned goods. That is why the Minsitrails group have taken the donations to other places for the past 3 years or so. IT'S A FACT. Call the local BSA council and if they have any guts they will tell you it is the truth.

I'm voting "no" to the Gracedale question, but not for the reason above. I have a relative that is an RN at a local hospital. I showed her the payscale for a Gracedale nurse. She laughed. The wages are NOT higher. Regardless, it's time to sell for the future of Gracedale. The damage has already been done, time to move on.

  39. Northampton County Assistant Court Admistrator,Jill Cicero agrees with her husband that Richard Yetter is the right person for the job.Whether it is because of jelousy because her husband Joe Cicero was arrested 2 years ago and and embarrassment to her in the courts or merely because "if I can't have it neither can you" syndrom, they will both agree they want I am a Dick Yetter supporter is what they want voters to elect on Tues. What else can we conclude given the power Jill and Joe have in this County?
Didn,t this just happen in Northampton County with their "BEST FRIEND'S APPOINTMENT? Time to investigate those that are not "POLITICAL" but play politics.I( heard a letter is circulating)AND yOU KNOW WHO IS NOT SMART ENOUGH TO COMPOSE IT.duh?

  40. With reguard to the Wind ap DJ race, I can't beleive that Off. Medellin has even concidered entering the race with his record. He has been suspended several times. His record is deplorable. He is not going around sticking his flyers in mail boxes which is a voilation of postal regulations. If you are conciderins voting for this guy asks another cop what they think of him... They will fill your ear...

squeaky clean and highly qualified no schooling required.
