Barron Calling All Volunteers

Maybe our nonpolitical Contoller, Steve Barron, thinks collecting Express Times Turkeys is a good thing. He's sent out an email asking people to join him tonight at Starters, where he will sever (his word) up some light appetizers.

"Hope you can make it May 24th from 5:30 until 7:30 at Starters Riverport in Bethlehem, PA for a volunteer appreciation evening.

"There will be light appetizers severed [sic] and a cash bar.

"Come meet the candidates I hope you will be willing to volunteer for in November, and enjoy a celebration of our successful campaigns from this past Tuesday. Hope to see you there!

"Sincerely,

"Stephen J. Barron, Jr.
Northampton County Controller"

"P.S. Forward this along to your family and friends!"

  6. Just a lame episode of "As the Kilt Turns."

  7. Thirteen years of paid for public education and this is what gets a diploma? Has an institution of higher learning been sullied by awarding a degree to someone who exhibits fourth grade communication skills, at best? He makes Angle look like William F. Buckley.

  8. Give him a break. At least he spelled his own last name right!

This should not be about winning or losing, but the right thing. If the people are correct and Gracedale can be made to work, then we all win. If Gracedale does not work, despite everyone's best efforts, then we all lose.

But I understand the need for poor Joe to gloat. It will be the first election he ever won.

  11. @ 12:10 - You feel he should be injured and or killed? You are a poor excuse for a shitty human being.

  12. I don't think 12:10 was serious and just made an attempt at some humor that failed. I deleted the comment.

It really kills me when one anon gets all indignant and starts hurling names at another anon who was essentially doing the same thing.

  16. Hey Bernie were you there? I hear it was packed with the cream of the pay to play crop.

I hope you wore clean underwear.

  17. Wren, Don't get so angry. I have deleted myself once or twice, to be honest. I have no problem with attacks at pols, but the death wish thing is a bit over the top, even though I know you were just joking.

No. I was busy finishing up a pleading in the latest demand for att'y fees by Otter. Had I finished 1/2 hour sooner, I would have gone ... with my camera.

  20. Steve Barron embarrassed Angle and Stoffa over the Gracedale affair so now you are after Steve.

I guess the Stoffa friendly Express Times was given their orders as well. what will you boys do when Steve is county executive.

  21. Barron is certainly an embarrassment, and needs no help from anyone to look that way.

  22. Please tell me that there is no way the voters, even Democrats, would vote for this guy to be county executive. He has arguably been the most out of touch and incompetent Controller since the position was created.

Are people being serious when they reference this guy as a possible county executive. I mean I supported the sale of Gracedale. But even I would rather vote for a few of the pol's that spoke for keeping it, as I understood their argument. This clown never had a reason other than to kiss union ass.

What gives Bernie? Is he even going to win this Fall?

    I am amazed!

  23. We all come here and call Barron disgusting, a creep, illiterate, etc.

It appears that he is all those things, and has embraced it. He has decided being Steve Barron is the ticket. He has hitched his wagon to an actively engaged, agenda-driven machine that has proven, at least in the Gracedale matter, that it has the will and resources to win.

It would be a travesty but, don't be surprised if Barron doesn't just pull it off. NORCO is full of "give me mine now" folks who think someone like Barron can stick it to the man and get them something. The whole country is that way. How the hell do you think Barack Obama, incompetent as his is, got elected?

Not a pretty picture, but totally plausible.

  24. Barron's career can be stopped dead in its tracks now. His opponent, Steve Salvesen, is very distinguished and understands municipal finance. But he'll need money to get the word out bc I doubt any unions will be funding him.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Isnt it the contollers job to reconcile all bank accounts? How did all that money disappear unnoticed in the criminal division?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Mr. Barron has saved tax payers of Northampton County millions unlike some members of council who have wasted tax payers money and will continue to waste our money

    ReplyDelete
  27. Barron hasn't saved the county squat. If he had been doing his job he could have given the county a heads up on Gracedale and offer some solutions. All he has done is seized on a political opportunity and reacted.

His facts are nothing more than oft repeated facts that have been presented by most everyone other than John Stoffa and Ron Angle.

The problem with Barron is he seizes political opportunity like a sponge but offers no real work solutions.

He embarrassed himself and sadly his office and staff throughout this entire debate.

Can be, but likely will not be. Too many people would have to give a damn. Just don't see it happening. We do not have the collective will.

A loose analogy: We could have essentially won the war on terror years ago, saved billions of dollars and thousands of American casualties, by dealing with Mecca, Tehran and Damascus as we did Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

We no longer have the will.
