NorCo GOP Takes Cusick to the Woodshed

I wish I could have been a fly on the wall. I've been waiting to tell you this story for over two months, when Norco's GOP decided to invite Council Prez John Cusick, Council VP Peg Ferraro, and Council member Tom Dietrich to explain why they consorted with Lamont McClure and Ann McHale to depose Ron Angle as Council President. Last night, 37 Republican Committee members finally got together.

At 9 PM, I called Angle to find out what had happened. He laughed and challenged me to find out for myself. So I called around and finally got someone willing to talk to me.

Invitations went out to John Cusick, Peg Ferraro and Tom Dietrich. But only Cusick had the guts to appear, although he sat in the back of the room and ran out the back door as soon as it was over. Ferraro was apparently at a sale for day old doughnuts, while Dietrich was studying for his Mahjong certification.

From what I understand, Cusick was asked to explain what the hell had happened. Cusick admitted conspiring to oust Angle, and blamed it on things like Angle's personality, his changing positions on GEO and even Gracedale. This drove some Committee members nuts. Some asked him to step down. Others pledged they will never support him again.

Cusick was asked to apologize, but refused. Cusick was then instructed that he had to meet with members of Council, one-on-one, and make an effort to restore good relations.

I spoke to only one committee member and did not have a pen and paper on hand to take notes, but believe this account is basically accurate.

I consider Cusick the least culpable of the trio who conspired to stab Angle in the back. But his word is not his bond. The one who tried the hardest to get rid of Angle was Dietrich, and he's already complaining nobody pays enough attention to him.

The person I find most culpable is Peg Ferraro. She threw Angle to the wolves so that she could be VP and sit on some boards and rub elbows with the rich and powerful. Besides, her masters in the Lehigh Valley Partnership don't much like Angle.

  1. Masters on the Partnership, Masters on the Republican committee. Lots of Masters to go around. That is one of the problems with the Republican Party, they are very regimented and stress following orders. If a Democratic committee person demanded that of a Democratic county officeholder the officeholder would laugh in their face. I've seen it happen. Party committee people tend to take themselves very seriously, fortunately most voters do not.

The fact that this Republican Committee endorsed John Stoffa as their County Executive candidate and Ron Angle as their Council President is one of many reasons why people like Thriey, Gilbert and others will be gone after the next at large election.

You can keep pushing your boy Angle but the voters have had enough. The clown car that is now Northampton County government is over crowded.

  2. Chuck,

I have no idea who you are but you saved me from having to rebuke poor bernie for his outlandishness..The same republican committee in lehigh county is always lambasted by Bernie for picking on Browning..Since bernie likes browning, the Lehigh County republican committee is bad...However, the Norco Republicans , for some unknown reason, like Angle, so they are good...What's the point here Bernie..The fact is Angle was thrown out because he doesn't know how to act civilly..he pissed off his fellow Republicans on Council and was rightfully tossed on his ass..I agree that Ms.Ferraro was a major player in tossing his uncivil ass...Good for her..That's why she is usually one of the top vote getters in the County..She makes wise decisions...

  3. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with what happened. I am saying what happened.

And Tom Foolery, you don't know what you're talking about. Angle was tossed bc Ferraro wanted to be VP. The civility crap is just that.

Shame you don't get out much anymore. It is obvious that Peg is in the wrong party and needs to move to those brave soldiers and non-offensive beings in the Democrat Party. You may not like Ron Angle and you would be among a lot of good people, but let us remember that it was Angle who voted against the Reibman bond, and the swapthon. He was also the man who grabbed the bull by the horns, the bull in this case being John Stoffa, and sat down with him to put up a NO TAX INCREASE BUDGET. Now this budget is in danger of being reconfigured not only to keep Gracedale but to figure out a way to address the matter of already overspending to the tune of, I am given to understand, $5M. AHHH HAPPY DAYS MUST BE HERE AGAIN. OH JUST REPORTED, THE GDP IS AT 1.6%. WOW I'M IMPRESSED.
By the way, Chuck and Tom, do you come to the County meetings?

  7. Amazed that Bernie continues to delete messages when someone doesn't agree with him.

  8. P.S. Thanking Mr. Cusick for trying to gain civility to council meetings; something that was lost under the Angle Rule!

  9. John Cusick as president is the best thing that happened for all the reasons he stated. We the people want to be represented well..council acts as role models for the future ...they are making major decisions and Ron Angle thinks it is a circus...His time is so over. Vote wisely folks, do your homework and know what the candidates stand for..No room or time for so much lost time on the Ron nonsense..Stoffa isn't far behind..major disappointment.

  10. "We the People" are not trolls who post anonymously on this and other blogs. "We the People" do not engage in disgusting attacks at a defenseless woman, as the Gracedale Goons have done. Please save your crap for your hate blog.
