District Judge Candidate Dick Yetter Blasts Single Moms

In a supposed judicial campaign that is increasingly becoming a comedy of errors, Wilson Borough DJ candidate Richard "I'm a lawyer" Yetter is now taking aim at single moms. At a recent meeting of Easton Democrats, Yetter asks, "How would everybody in this room like a single mother who has to be at home at 4:30 PM to chase her kids around the dining room table?"

The room gasped.

Don't take my word for it. Among those present were Easton City Council members Ken Brown, Sandy Vulcano and Eli Warner. Ask them.

Yetter is running against Shana Restucci and Rhonda Elias. Nonlawyers, they don't belong to the penis club, either. Unlike Yetter, they're not little Dicks.

Collections lawyer Yetter has consistently demonstrated that he lacks pretty much all of the qualities we look for in judges. Before the race got uder way, he tried to scare off one potential rival by threatening her with defamation. This legal scholar followed that up by falsely telling lawyers that their campaign contributions are tax deductible. Now we have his slam at single moms.

Yetter did not stop there. He told Easton Democrats that one of his opponents, Shana Restucci, "did not vote for Barack Obama." How he would know that is beyond me. His other rival, Rhonda Elias, is even worse than Shana. She's an Evil Republican! His criticism of both Restucci and Elias is a violation of the Code of Judicial Conduct, which condemns political activity inappropriate to the office.

On his web page, Yetter claims to have the endorsement of Lehigh Valley Advocacy for Men and Families. According to the FaceBook page for that group, it's a nonprofit that really should not be endorsing political candidates. This group did not respond to my inquiries.

  1. Hey Bernie, I hear your man crush Stoffa is one of the founders of that group. Better talk to him.

  2. Bernie,

That's why its going to be even funnier when he wins. Get the rag ready to wipe the egg off your face.

  3. Why haven't you written about Restucci's checkered past? She is hardly an angel and "judging" by her past actions isn't judge material. But hey. let's not pick on her only him............

  4. Shanna has my vote, I wouldn't vote for a goof like Yetter.

  5. I don't think any candidate who condemns single women as judges, deserves consideration. A candidate who links to a nonprofit group and claims their endorsement does not know the law.

Two of the three candidates in this race are class acts. Sadly, the joke is the lawyer.

This should not be about winning, but about acting with class and dignity, with a temperament appropriate for the bench.

It is easy to paint female candidates, whether they are Restucci or Elias, with scarlet As. They've been doing it for thousands of years. But a man can beat up a woman, and have his PFA expunged in a few short years.

  8. Bernie, were you at this meeting yourself?

  9. I was not, but spoke to several people who were there, and my account is accurate. I have provided the nemes of other attendees, who will confirm the accuracy of what Yetter said.

  10. Did you speak with those three people you named: Vulcano, Brown, and Werner?

  11. Mr &/or Mrs Yetter, Speak to them yourself and you'll find out. I stand by what I write. I put my name out there. You, on the other hand, hide behind a veil of anonymity. You should be ashamed of the campaign you have run.

  12. You have completely misquoted Mr. Yetter and stated false accusations. I was at the Easton Area Democratic meeting on 3/16/11 and everyone reading this blog should know that Mr. Yetter did not say anything remotely close to what he is being accused of saying. When asked about his temperament for the position, he said “temperament is that 4:30 p.m. appointment on a Friday at his office with a single mom whose three kids are running laps around his conference room table while Nickelodeon is playing on his office television while he conducts a consultation to inform the mother of her custody rights."

  13. WTG Russ Lipari for speaking up. I applaud you my good man. How can people be so judgmental on Rick. I have know Rick since he was a kid that I adored and I still adore him as an adult. He has the most compassion for his clients, as I was one five years ago. When I needed for him to come to my mom's dying bedside, he dropped everything to come to handle her dying wish.
Yetter is Better is all I can say.

Too bad Flocking Fleck isn't running as some were hinting about. Flecking Flock keeps the "P" in politics.

  15. Bernie....YOU SHOULD GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!

  16. bernie i dont know what meeting these people were at but NOT the same meeting is was at. yetter did NOT say what hes beig accused off at that meeting. so maybe you better make sure all your facts are in order before you print false information. i was hoping that you would be 100% sure all your information was correct.im really disappointed that you didnt confirm your information and if these people who you say said what was said im very disappointed that elected officials would lie about the facts.please in the future confirm your information before you blog

  17. Isn't there any video of the incident bernie, you have videos for everything else? That would easily tell the truth and the facts right?

  18. Russ Lipari,

I stand by what I wrote. I spoke to people who are not associated with any of the three campaigns and who were appalled by Yetter's sexist rant. I will not disclose the identity of these individuals, although one of them agreed to let me "out" him, because they would then be subjected to retribution by Yetter or party officials who do not like seeing controversy exposed. Let Yetter threaten ME with defamation. Truth is a defense.

By the way, Mr. Lipari, you forgot to tell my readers that you are, in fact, a member of Yetter's committee, and hardly can be considered an unbiased source.

There is no video, but I can guarantee I will be bringing you video of the lady-hater in action.

  20. WRONG BERNIE THIER IS VIDEO

    ReplyDelete
  21. PLEASE...Show this video and shut Bernie the heck up!

    ReplyDelete
  22. If there is video of Yetter's entire commentary, share it with us. It will show that he made disparagng remarks about single mothers, as several people have already told me.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Bernie, what are you getting at with the comment of getting a PFA expunged? Is that just an example or is it a crack about that awful UNTRUE story about a PFA on Mr. Yetter?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I was stating the reality that a man can beat up a woman and have his record expunged in a few years. Guilty conscience?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Let it go. All of you. Mr Lipari is a wonderful man, always serving community wel. More than can be said of alot of others on here.
Bernie you should try to put all this crap behind you and find a good venue to help make a difference!!!Let it go., THe election will decide who is best for the job, not a popularity contest or who attacks better. Stop all of this.

  27. Bernie, you know a couple of members of the EADC who are honest decent people and have no stake in this race, would it have killed you to call or email them to ask what really happened before you wrote this? You're painting yourself into a corner and when you are shown the video that disproves these claims, are you going to be able to admit you were wrong in this case? I truly hope that you can. Both of these candidates are ridiculous. Their behavior and the behavior of their friends, family, and supporters reflects poorly on them as candidates and as people. This has been bitter and ugly from the start. I don't even care at this point who started it. I care that they both immediately headed for the lowest point they could reach. Shame on them both. I'm so glad I don't have to chose between these two. I might chose to leave that one blank.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I haven't heard a thing on here from the other two candidates i wonder why? Maybe because they are better than this to comment on all the crap, you all are just slaying one another. What was Said was indeed Said, don't try to sugar coat it. Leave that for the cakes and cookies.

  29. "ernie, you know a couple of members of the EADC who are honest decent people and have no stake in this race, would it have killed you to call or email them to ask what really happened before you wrote this?"

Actually, I do and I did. What I wrote is accurate. A video would have to be a video of Yetter's entire performance, not a portion. My money says you don't have that bc too many people confirm the accuracy of what I wrote. But if a complete video established that I am inaccurate, I would admit it. But as i said, i did not rely on any of the three campaigns.

This has been a bitter and ugly race from the start. As an independent and neutral observer, the conclusion is inescapable that Yetter has rolled around in the mud to attack both of his female opponents on several occasions. He started with a threatening letter, and has demonstrated he has NONE of the attributes we look for in judges.

  30. Neutral observer, that's a laugh. It is quite evident what side you have been on since the beginning.

    ReplyDelete
  31. People hear what they want to hear sometimes, Bernie. It's human nature. You'll have the proof, just as you described it. I hope you can live up to your guarantee.
I'm disappointed in both camps and a bit in you as well, Bernie.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes people do hear what they want to hear. You said it yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  33. "Neutral observer, that's a laugh. It is quite evident what side you have been on since the beginning."

In the beginning, I probably leaned slightly towars Yetter, but that did not last long as it became increasingly clear that he is trying to bully his way into office.

I'd say voters have a choice between two classy ladies and a pig with a law degree.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Classy? Maybe 1 of them.

    ReplyDelete
  35. 11;08 HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well, where to begin? I have been silently following this race and I wish that certain candidates would treat this a seriously and not a just obtaining a position of power. For instance are we in a professional wrestling match that one has to use expletives between their first and last name for recognition purposes? Have you no class demeaning women and single mothers and yet you expect voters to like you since your an attorney? Defamation and retaliation maybe a part of politics 101 but its certainly not appealing to the people in the district. Its making voters question integrity of these candidates and how effective they may be in the position of handing out judgement.
I implore the people of this district to take a few minutes and attend each of the candidates events. Please make an educated decision because there are some extremely weak candidates for this position and lets not put someone in that office that we as constituents will regret!
