Is Ann McHale a Ten?

Council member Ann McHale, who represents Bethlehem on Northampton County Council, has told The Express Times she's calling it quits at the end of this year. She and Ron Angle have tangled incessantly, but last night, he called her a 10.

Before she smacked him, he explained.

"Mrs. McHale's not running for re-election. I'm a 9.5 and she's a 10 on representing the Districts we come from. And I respect you for that. There's nobody who ever fought more for their District and got more for their District than you have."

McHale: "That was my job."

Angle: "And that was your job. You got me on that one. I'm a 9.5, you're a 10."

Angle's a 9.5? Then I'm an 11 at least.

  1. If McHale's quitting in 2011, won't there be a special election to fill her post? Why did she go through the election if she planned to quit a year later? Maybe we misunderstand what's going on here.

  2. Permission to Post:

    Bernie-
Hey did ya hear? Former Morning Call publisher Tim Kennedy has a new job managing a website and a content-marketing initiative for Emmaus publisher Rodale.

Just heard the Call now requires all businesses who subscribe must pay for a 7 day a week delivery, even if the business is closed on the weekends. Great public relations.

  3. McHale's term expires at the end of 2011. She was last elected in 2007 by a HUGE margin.

  5. Bernie,

The other post that cites Angle's remarks during the courtesy of the floor, I can follow. I think in a round-a-bout way, they make sense. It is not my style, but then again, I am not Angle. I like that he has the guts to confront council members that he has or will have a problem with. I like it when a politician can be open and air out things like this.

But this speech doesn't make any sense. It must be me, because I cannot understand it without a proper context. Seems like he is trying to garner support of the Democrats? Or is he chastising his fellow Republicans in an unique fashion? Don't understand it.

    Peace, ~~~alex+

  6. He is paying her a compliment as a district council member who fought hard for her district. Everything she could get for bethlehem, she got. He is actually just being honest because it's the truth. I don't much care for her, but she was always in Bethlehem's corner.

  8. The last thing Ron will need is the Fake Rev's support. And anyone who thinks I ever make friends with my enemies does not know me.

  9. Politics as usual in the Lehigh Valley. Things aren't much different in Whitehall, but there's a grassroot campaign up to defeat the incumbents there in November. Good luck. Corruption is a disease in every town in the Valley.

  10. Maybe your nose was so far up Rons ass last night that it covered your ears when He "tried" to make nice-nice with Mary Ann. "I called Justice" You gotta learn to bait your hooks better. Please let the door hit you on the way out.

I have told Ron many times that people like you only wish to hurt him and should never give you the time of day. Your comment confirms that, and I thank you. I will call Ron and convey your anonymous message.

  19. I hear Joe Long himself may actually go for it. That would be great. I would love to see Long up there with Angle and Stoffa. he isn't afraid of either one of them.

  22. Its good to see that the Dem's are pushing the usual losing dregs of their Party. They have some real class people in their ranks but as usual when it comes time for candidates we see the bottom of the barrel being suggested.

  25. Forget it folks. Bernie only wants one of his pals to be on Council. He hates the people mentioned. The candidate must be approved by Angle and Stoffa. Find someone who will kowtow to Stoffa and Angle and Bernie will endorse them.
