Charlie Dent To Tour Northampton County War Zone

He's been to Islamabad. Iraq. Afghanistan. And now, LV Congressman Charlie Dent will visit the war zone right here in The People's Republic of Northampton County. Against the wise counsel of his security staff and mental health experts everywhere, Dent will be in the belly of the beast, Northampton County's very own Star Chamber, to meet with constituents. He'll be in Council's Chambers from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM this coming Wednesday, risking his life to meet with you. I just hope he sends minesweepers out ahead of him.

Congressman Dent will also conduct town halls next week at these locations:

Bethlehem: Tuesday, February 1 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saxton Gym at the Bethlehem YMCA, 430 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA. (Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan has already challenged Dent to a chugging contest.)

Northampton: Tuesday, February 1 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Northampton Borough Hall, 1401 Laubach Avenue, Northampton, PA. (Best

Nazareth: Friday, February 4 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Nazareth Borough Council Chambers, West Center and Church Streets, Nazareth, PA.

  1. Agree with anon 7:37 unless Charlie comes out and discusses his strategy in leading the charge to repeal Obamacare for sensible solutions to the problem, how he is going to lead the charge in stopping the naked body scans and sexual assaults of the TSA, how is going to lead the charge in securing our southern border from the illegal immigration take over of this country and how he going to lead the charge in making the US economy the by far strongest in the world. IMHO

  2. Working folk need not attend...unless you want to use vacation.

Saw his response about HealthCare Reform. In his statement he suggests he wants folks to be able to keep their healthcare if they like it. But then goes onto state that he wants to make healthcare coverage available with people with preexisting condition. I thought the entire point was prevent people from getting booted from their existing coverage once they fall ill. My take on his plan is that it is ok to absolve Insurers from their responsibility so long as there is another plan they can pick up (at a higher premium for sure).

Not a word about lifetime limits.

Maybe this is the Healthcare Rationing the GOP campaigned on.

  3. Speaking of Heathcare Rationing, this week the 42,000 members of PAs adultBasic Health coverage were notified their coverage would end on Feb 28.

adultBasic was created by Ridge using Tobacco settlements to provided affordable access to coverage for 18 - 65 year old working Pennsylvania's or those between jobs that earned below the poverty limit. Rendell extended the program under agreement that BlueCross and BlueShield would subsidize the program with excess surplus to keep non-profit status. Despite funding the program, the Blues have continued to build a surplus sitting at $1.6B.

Despite funding the program, surplus continues to grow. Are our premiums over inflated?
