Who's Coming to the Tea Party?

On Tuesday, I told you that the Lehigh Valley Project 9/12 - Tea Party Group, will host a "Meet the Candidates" evening this Friday at the Chrin Community Center in Palmer Township, beginning at 7:00 p.m. (Map here).

State Senators Pat Browne and Bob Mensch have committed, as have challengers Matt Connolly and Rick Orloski.

State House candidates Rex D'Agostino, Charles Dertinger and Justin Simmons will be there, too, for one-on-one exchanges with voters.

More candidates may commit between now and Friday night. It is very refreshing that Democrats Dertinger and Orloski and Green Party D'Agostino are willing to meet with a group of citizens whose ideology is very different from their own. We all win when people are willing to talk to each other, instead of past each other. I'll be there with my flipcam, hoping somebody gets decked, like the Mad Hatter at any tea party.

  1. Will anyone represent Bob Freeman's estate?

  2. The late Bob Freeman will be represented by his very tasteful cardboard cut-out.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
