Democrat Grucela Praises Republican Gilbert
It's about the biggest compliment that State Rep. Rich Grucela could give someone. You see, Wayne Grube was more than a great Easton High School football coach, powerful County Council President, or legislative aide to Rich Grucela. He was also his closest friend, and I think Wayne's sudden passing is the real reason why Rich decided to give up his House seat.
But that's the very first thing Democrat Rich Grucela said to Republican Bruce Gilbert yesterday as he approached the podium at the tail end of a 2 1/2 hour County Council budget hearing. Bruce played football for one of Wayne's championship Easton teams. "He was a good student, too," teacher Rich whispered to me later in the meeting.
Grucela was complimenting Gilbert, not because he shares his ideology, but because he respects and admires the work ethic and civility this freshman Council member brings to Northampton County Council.
In a time when partisanship rules, it's refreshing to see this unexpected display of bipartisanship from my state representative.
Rich, it looks like you're still teaching.

Time will tell. First lets see if he falls for the Angle/Stoffa bullshit two step on the budget. The two scripted this two budget smoke and mirror act. They are playing the rest of County Council for suckers but we will see if Council is smart enough to figure it out. The smart money says based on their record so far the answer is no. Angle/Stoffa has bamboozled them for the past year.
ReplyDeleteRich isn't teaching Bruce anything. In fact, Rich could learn a thing or two from Bruce. One is never too old.
ReplyDeleteGood grief. Bruce is 49 or 50. You write of him as if he's a pimply teenager. Give the old fartism a break.
ReplyDeleteThis guy is impressive. With his MBA, background and ethics can we get him to run for County Controller next year. I think he can beat the Long Dem Steve"in ma belly" Barron. It would be nice to have a qualified, ethical controller who doesn't intimidate people with his title.
ReplyDeleteBarron is a fraud who has done nothing for Gracedale since his grandstanding speech as opposed to some others who have sincerely tried to help.
Tell Gilbert to run and tell the Republicans to get serious and take out Barron with an honest qualified candidate like Gilbert.
Bernie get to work!
Lester
Lester, I doubt anyone can beat Barron. He has the Democratic Party machine behind him.
