  2. Point of OT order. I watched the four hour health Bureau Meeting. I still don't know what the Hell happened? Is it dead? Is it alive?

    What the Hell?

    Thank you

  4. Thank You for the info. The flurry of votes and motions at the end, left me wondering what the Hell just happened.

  6. For all practical purposes, it's dead. It was denied the funding it needs to continue. Next step will be an ordinance to disband. That's the funeral.

  7. Back to the Mcall post . . .

I feel sorry for those who face the uncertainty of a potential layoff. They are in my prayers.

  8. Believe it or not, there are still a few that could go and not be missed.

Odds are they will still be there after the this round of layoffs.

  9. Though this particular rumour has yet to be substantiated, layoffs will be the order of the day in the near term for many industries, including newspapers.

This is earnings season, and reports are showing that even companies with increased profits are not showing top line revenue growth. The earnings are simply the result of draconian expense reductions, which will have to be duplicated in the absence of new money coming through the door.

    We haven't seen anything, yet.

TMC's layoffs, if they happen, may be a necessity for the new owners need to make the deal work and get the parent out of bankruptcy.

  10. A perusal of the various Tribune sites and a couple of unaffiliated blogs by current/former employees did not yield any info validating or repudiating potential layoffs.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
