The Real Bulldog
I often refer to Ron Angle as the Northampton County Bulldog, but want to give you a glimpse at the real bulldog. He was a flawed man whose many imperfections have been chronicled. But he also knew how to lead, even when the British were getting the devil.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
And he was the father of the British National Health Service (public option healthcare):...
ReplyDelete"The discoveries of healing science must be the inheritance of all. That is clear. Disease must be attacked, whether it occurs in the poorest or the richest man or woman simply on the ground that it is the enemy; and it must be attacked just in the same way as the fire brigade will give its full assistance to the humblest cottage as readily as to the most important mansion. Our policy is to create a national health service in order to ensure that everybody in the country, irrespective of means, age, sex, or occupation, shall have equal opportunities to benefit from the best and most up-to-date medical and allied services available.
He was a flawed but fundamentally decent man of great intellect and character. Angle is a flawed man!
ReplyDeleteComparison ended!
He was a conservative who understood that public option healthcare was economically the better choice. Now the UK pays less than the uS for health insurance, has the 18th best healthcare system in the world where we are the 37th, adn they live longer and pay less for pharmaceuticals, etc....a true conservative doesn't believe in paying more for less and keeping your population poorer and sicker.
ReplyDeleteThen perhaps you should allow conservatives to have more say in health care reform in the U.S. Shutting them out does not seem to be working, does it?
ReplyDelete96% of the US wants healthcare reform. 4% of the conservatives, including Dent, are overruled.
ReplyDeleteBetween being pro-affordable health care and getting involved in a justified war that he won, there is no way Churchill would be accepted as a conservative in today's world.
ReplyDeleteBernie, what insurance company do you have that you are so defensive of the insurance industry? You must be happy with it.
ReplyDeleteHe was a socialist and a functioning drunk. And he was half American.
ReplyDeleteOhare is covered under the "Angle will pay all your bills" plan.
ReplyDeleteAnon 6:58, LOL!!
ReplyDeleteBernie how in the hell can you compare Angle to Churchill who did great things in his lifetime while Angle basically has done nothing for the county except to stir the pot up,but never comes up with a solution for the problem.Angles solution to everything is ,it is my way or I will sue you!
