Morning Call Press Workers Have New Contract

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
. . . for how long? Whatever your opinion of the Mcall, I hope the workers there are able to hang on to their jobs. It's no secret that the newspaper business is on the wane. Mid-size cities are finding that only 1 paper is viable.
ReplyDeleteWhere will these press workers find new jobs if this paper closes? ABC this past week announced it is eliminating skilled newsroom jobs and soon reporters will be expected to be their own cameramen and editors.
ReplyDeleteHere in the Valley, a major union is fighting for job protection, but their employer according to news reporters threatens to pull out altogether. What will these union people do if that happens?
And yet, the bigshots are getting bonuses.
ReplyDeleteThe pendulum swings so far in each direction over time. Unions righted so many wrongs, then got greedy and apathetic, losing their appeal to the general workforce.
Now, they are unarmed, unable and unwilling to stop the rape.
The content of the liberal mouthpiece Morning Call stinks.
ReplyDeleteNobody wants to read their garbage.
How long can a company selling out and out crap stay afloat?
Don't worry. The Obama Administration will bail failing newspapers out.
Can't let good propaganda outlets go to waste, now, can we?
What goes around comes around
