Janet Jackson Tries Ron Angle in the Press

Most lawyers I know practice law in the courtroom. But an Anglephobe like CACLV Director Alan Jennings, who really knows nothing about Ron Angle or his family, is demanding that he be prosecuted. In addition to complaining to reporters for being too soft, he was braying at a RenewLV meeting about Angle last week.

Maybe with Ron out of the way, they can finally foist that bi-county health department on us.

It hasn't stopped with Ron. Now his son is getting it, too. A vicious personal attack against this young man has been posted anonymously on a local hate blog. The sins of the son are apparently visited on the father in the goofy world of Anglephobes.

Bethlehem Attorney Janet Jackson is trying her case in The Express Times. She's insists that the Fred Angle estate should include several revocable trusts he set up years ago. I guess those must be fraudulent as well. It's unclear exactly who she represents, if anyone. At one point, the news account claims she represents Joanie Place, the Ron Angle sister-in-law who cared so much about Fred Angle that she skipped his funeral. But at another point, she claims to have represented Fred Angle's grandson for the past four years.

But she only finds out about the trusts now? Could it be that Fred Angle was not so close to his loving daughter-in-law and grandson, both of whom live in Florida, as she would like us to believe?

Jackson denies any political motivation against Republican Ron Angle. Express Times reporter Sarah Cassi dutifully writes, "Jackson said she has supported Democratic candidates in the past, but there is no political bias in her cause."

In the past?

She just gave John Callahan $1,000 for his congressional bid against Charlie Dent on September 30. She and her husband hosted a fundraiser for failed congressional wannabe Siobhan Bennett, and they were at that time listed as her campaign chairs. They dug into their pockets and found $1,750 for Bennett. In the past five years, they've spent $6,300 on Democratic state and federal candidates, from Charles Dertinger to Ed Rendell. (Their spending can be tracked here, here and here. )

By the way, her office address is listed as Suite 201, 60 W. Broad Street, Bethlehem Pa. Angle's biggest enemy on Northampton County Council, partisan Democrat Lamont McClure, is at Suite 202. McClure had a signed copy of the Register of Wills' decision on Thursday. Isn't that convenient?

I do agree Jackson's primary motivation probably has little to do with politics. That's just a bonus. What's really prompting her is greed.

Janet, I am sorry about Michael. He was one hell of an entertainer.

If you want a real story, try interviewing some former female employees of CACLV and ask them about Alan Jennings.

Jennings has a history of inappropriate actions that have been covered up by the CACLV Board.

  3. Ron, Sr., and you have brought Ron Jr.s credibility into this mess. Isn't it true that Ron, Jr. was expelled and/or asked to leave more than one school for serious disciplinary infractions ? Isn't it true that Ron, Jr., was involved with more than one incident with the police as a juvenile ? What happend at Kutztown ?

  4. Whose paying for the pro-LV health board message billboards now posted along regional highways?
Also, if this is true about Alan Jennings, shame on him.
    It's none of his business!

  5. Bernie-

Regarding the will- either Ron forged the signature and some (not all) of the people that Ron has disrespected, attacked and/or abused over the years are making sure that justice is served or he did not forge the will and some (not all) of the people that Ron has disrespected, attacked and/or abused over the years are using this opportunity for payback. Either way, no one can say that Ron didn't bring this upon himself. What comes around, goes around. Ron never let facts get in the way of his opinion and it sounds like he may be on the other side of the whoopin' club now. I was never a big believer in Karma...until now.

  6. hey now, let's leave alan jennings out of it. i mean seriously, the man has devoted his whole life to helping the poor (at 6 figures a year...)

  7. When Alan Jennings asked me to post his organization's news releases, I was happy to comply. When an employee asked me to post a free ad about small business grants, I did so within one day.

He should keep his nose out of this matter. All kinds of vicious personal attacks, that would never be sanctioned against anyone else, are perfectly OK against Ron.

If Jennings is sticking his nose in other people's business,
    he's fair game.

    helping the less fortunate?

  11. They can foist all they want, but there is no money for the health department. If they want the 3.6 million in Harrisburg they keep saying is theirs, they have to come up with the same amount in matching funds.

"Oh, I see. because you think Ron is an asshole, that justifies all kinds of mean-spirited attacks, including attacks on his son."

No, Bernie, you are taking my comment to an extreme. I'm saying Ron has screwed over a lot of people over the years. In his line of work (politics), sometimes you have to do that, but he seems to have taken it to a whole new level and, at times, not for the good of the county and its citizens. Ron should welcome the sparring...he'd be leading the charge if almost anyone else was in his shoes.

As far as his family members go, I agree, they should be kept out of the discussion. Unfortunately, it sounds like some people have taken the "all's fair in love and war" approach. If your point is "leave family out of this" I agree with you. However, if it's "stop picking on Ron because he's innocent", you won't get a lot of sympathy from others because of his history.

Personally, I'd like to see justice served in court. Let them determine if he's guilty or innocent.

It's your blog, but it has a lot more community benefit (and entertaint value)when it brings up relevant topics, not why people should stop picking on li'l ronnie. Just my opinion. Either way, I'll still continue to visit and when moved, comment. Thanks Bernie.

  18. There seems to be some sort of Angle rule in the LV. It is OK to launch all kinds of attacks against him, and even his son, that would never be tolerated against anyone else. What I am arguing for is fairnwess, even to him. What I am arguing against is a lynch mob mentality. That does have a community benefit.

I understand you don't like the guy, That's fine, and I appreciate that you recognize things have gone too far.

If Alan Jennings has been at his post for years and folks are in need more than ever, has he really done a good job?

  22. Ron Angle is receiving better treatment in the media than JC Kelleher, Scott Ott, and Matt Benol received in this space. It all depends upon whom your friends are. In any case, it's unfair and unfortunate. I remember reading something about "do no harm."

    ReplyDelete
  23. Neither Scott Ott nor Mat Benol were attacked personally in this space ... ever. JC Kelleher was attacked, and rightly so, for claiming to promote familt values while simultaneously dating half the world's female population.

In Ron's case, he and is family are being vilified by people who know nothing about his father's estate. They are taking a family matter and using it for political mileage. It really stinks.

  25. Last time, I checked, people were presumed innocent. I guess the Angle rule presumes guilt in his case.

  26. so i followed your links on the political contributions and i see that no donations were ever made for any county council races. shouldn't you have pointed that out?

    ReplyDelete
  27. by the way why is the decision of public official called a leak if a signed decision had already been released?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anon 4:49, Of course, you know that county council campaign finance reports are not available online. For all I know, there were contributions. There were contributions to the county party, and if you really followed the links, you would see that.

Anon 5:09, The decision was not available to the public and was leaked before the Register of Willd wanted it disseminated. That's why I call it a leak.

  29. Jennings has pushed his way into several local issues that have no bearing on CACLV (which accomplishes a lot of good) in the service of local Democrats. He hides his dirty political work behind his affiliation with a well-regarded organization.

    ReplyDelete
  30. If Angle were JC Kelleher, this blog would be battering him like a pinata and making sport of his family.

    ReplyDelete
  31. It is sad that Bernie allows personal bashing while claiming he does not allow personal bashing. It depends who is getting bashed.

Alan Jennings knows Angles public record. Angle is no friend of people in need and Alan is doing his job of asking for equal justice for the poor and the wealthy.

Good Lord Ohare, how many good people have to be destroyed while defending this "wonderful" public servant. His wife, his son, Alan Jennings, Karl Longenebach, Chris Spadonni?

You realize you did the same thing last year Ohare when some people in the interest of good government considered running against your buddy Stoffa. You maliciously attacked and defamed them on your little vanity blog.

Have you or Angle any shame or compassion?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I've already addressed JC Kelleher, who made his personal lifestyle an issue on his own web page. And I sure as hell didn't drag his kids into it. You're going to have to try harder than that.

But even if I were the most vile and disgusting blogger in existence, that's no justification for the vicious personal attack on Ron and Sharon's son.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Alan Jennings, Chris Spadoni and Karl Longenbach all deserved a bit of criticism over the way this was handled. The Solicitor's office never should have handled this matter, and Jennings should not have held forth on a topic about which he knows nothing. But I have not attacked them personally. I have not dragged their children into the mix. I have not peered into their family live or problems.

And as far as the anonymous attacksagainst Jennings are concerned, they remain posted on this blog at his request. He and I spoke abnout them today, and I will be discussing them in a brief post tomorrow.

  34. I'm confused... where did Alan publicly comment on the situation with Ron Angle?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Alan spoke out last week during a RenewLV meeting. He acknowledges complaining to a reporter or two and calling DA Morganelli as well. he has done this in a mtter about which he knows nothing except for what Janet Jackson has told him.

  39. You are spinning this to death Ohare. The Lehigh Valley will take one Alan Jennings over 100 Ron angles any day of the week.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I would be interested to know how much public funding is invested in Renewlv. If there was a meeting last week, it sure was not listed on their calendar. Are these closed door meetings?

    ReplyDelete
  41. It was a board of director meeting. RenewLV, a nonprofit, is not bound by the Sunshine Act. I have a call in to Exec Director Steve Bliss, who is always very forthright.

  47. As for salary, Alan became director of CACLV while still in his twenties. Now in his fifties, Alan is known nationally as an effective and fearless advocate for the poor. After 30 years of "job well done," I think a $100,000 salary is well earned.

As a professional woman who has known and worked with Alan for twenty-plus years, I can tell you he is NOT, in any way, known as a womanizer. He is known as a rabid baseball fan, a devoted Springsteen fan, a loving husband to Denise, a royal pain-the-ass to shady politicians, and an unabashed admirer of savvy women who stand up to the good-old-boy network and get hard work accomplished.

The challenge from Anon 5:59 to "try interviewing some former female employees of CACLV," as if Alan has a history of harassment, is laughable. Alan does have a history with women. When they are smart, he hires them.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I agree with most, but not all, of your assessment. Jennings does not stand up to shady politicians. To the contrary, he is often allied with them. He can get funding and they get to look good.
