The Morganelli

One of the nicest features at Northampton County's Courthouse is its bright and cheerful cafeteria, managed by Susan's Catering. Head chef Richard McInerney, always festooned in surgical white, always has creative entrees and sandwiches.

Today, aside from the beef stoganoff entree, there was a sandwich special - The Morganelli. Here's his recipe.

1) Rich tells me any hard roll will do, but he likes a toasted olive ciabatta roll.

2) Rich slices red onions and sliced tomatoes into a marinade of olive oil, garlic powder and oregano.

3) Rich loads the roll with cappy ham , hard salami and provolone.

4) The final touch? Roasted red peppers.

  1. Is this why you empty out a room at the court house bernie?

  2. Does the cafeteria accept food stamps?

I've been unemployed for over a year now and I'm glad to see everyone in the county court house is eating better than me...

  3. Friday take out special "the Angle" - soon to be a favorite - bologna served on a banker's roll large enough for two with complimentary tastykake. Share the sandwich with an elderly friend and who knows share a certificate of deposit.

  4. The cafeteria should be closed since it is partially subsidized by the County.

Ohare does not empty out the room because he takes his weekly bath in the Courthouse mens room.

  5. Why does the government compete with neighborhood eating establishments? Is it the dangerous neighborhood?

  6. No anon 6:44, the neigborhood is fine. You make an excellant point and some folks agree with you. It was mentioned to Stoffa but he of course blew it off and spent $$$ on the "new" cafeteria.

The contract also went to friends of his supporters in Nazareth. Amazing that you never got the inside scoop on that from OHare.

  7. Typical inside, money wasting bullshit for career insiders - like, but not limited to, Stoffa. I hope the disgusting mystery meat sandwich gives them all the shits.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. The cafeteria prices are relatively inexpensive, about $5, but most courthouse workers only buy their meals there once or twice a week.

  9. "Why does the government compete with neighborhood eating establishments?"

The government is competing with no one, and there is some additional disinformation being posted here.

The cafteria is being run by Susan's Catering, a private business who has a contract with the county for these services. The contract is the result of a bid.

So far as I know, no one at Susan's Catering is remoely political. They are certainly not John Stoffa supporters. he collected no contributions from them ... or anybody.

They do a nice job and the new cafeteria is probably the brightest and most cheerful area in the courthouse.

  10. "The cafeteria should be closed since it is partially subsidized by the County."

This is bullshit. Anyone can go to purchasing and request a copy of the contract. Susan's is not subsidized by any County money.

"The contract also went to friends of his supporters in Nazareth."

Again bullshit. Anyone can go to purchasing and see the bids that were forwarded. The previous owner of the business did not wish to participate; Sodexo wanted to be subsidized, but the County said "No"; that left Susan's. This was open competition. Your conspiracy bullshit fails because you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. Next time, look at the facts.

  11. Another tempest in a teapot by hatemongering readers of this blog. The cafeteria is appreciated by jurors and other public guests to the courthouse that need to stay in the building. It is also greatly appreciated by the employees there. The food is well prepared with healthy alternatives and the Susan's Catering staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Whatever profit they make is slim but well deserved.

  12. you didn't think ohair would allow anything bad about his boy stoffa did you? must get a free lunch once in a while

  13. Hit a nerve? Wasn't this the caterer that was used for a short time by the Brackbill Administration in the mid-90's? Didn't Ferraro and Brackbill work for Stoffa in the election? The connection with the Nazareth caterer is there, sorry if you are angry some are admitting to be aware of it.

Hang in there anon 9:28, more than a few people are aware of what the true bullshit is and it is being served up in the subsidized Northampton county cafeteria. The County built the thing, an unecessary expense, a bureaucratic throwback white elephant in a modern world.

It would be much better to have folks patronize the resturants in Easton. But this Administration has been about screwing Easton. The people who scream we should close Gracedale because in their heads it competes with the private sector, think it is OK to have a Courthouse cafeteria. These folks don't get the real world.

  14. Does anybody understand this lunatic? He spreads lies, is called on it, and goes right on.

  15. I hear they have a new sandwich, "the Angle". It is two huge fluffy buns with nothing between them and it goes for $20.

    Sounds about right.

  16. To 5:52 and 12:04 from 9:30

Your hatred for Stoffa spews more lies. Let's review the FACTS. When Brackbill subcontracted for catering services during his administration, they used Susan's Catering (owned by Susan Bahofsky, who lived in South Whitehall). After that contract, Susan sold the business. The new owners kept the name, but moved the business to Northampton County to Rt 191. They were two different owners. You can't even lie straight. You keep spewing shit out of your ass and it shows your hatred for Stoffa. But the FACTS speak for themselves.

  17. The "Michael Jackson" features 50-year old meat between 10-year old buns.

  18. The Stoffa Soup is a sweet deal blending a blind woman forced out of her business and a reputable caterer thrown out of the mix.

Taste's good when eaten in conjuction with the Angle.

    ReplyDelete
  19. No one was forced out or thrown out. There was an open bid RFP. Some decided not to participate. That's their decision. Not Stoffa's.

  20. Hey Anon 2:18, I thought that was the "Ohare".
