You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
This supports my suggestion that if we want to save money, forget closing Gracedale...privatize the courts! Judge's salaries, D.A's salaries, all the costs that go into the frivolous lawsuits - charge the litigants and keep the taxpayer from paying. If you want to sue your neighbor over placement of a fence, you have to pay from the judge's hourly rate to the bailiff to the electricity for the courtroom for the hours you used it.
ReplyDeleteMr. Morganelli is protecting the average citizen against those who think money and power allow them to flaunt the law.
ReplyDeleteGod bless Mr. Morganelli!
Haven't other members of council in the past couple years held two elected offices? What are the grounds for this, and is there a real point, or just what someone perceives as being a point?
ReplyDeleteAs Nixon said as he broke the law, Kennedy did it so why can't I. The defense of the crook is always amazing.
ReplyDeleteBernie, let's stop the Morganelli bashing, this needs to be addressed once and for all, when I went from Mayor of Bangor to a member of Northampton County Council, I did it by the books, sent a letter of resignation to my council, waited until it was formally accepted and then went on to become a member of the county council. Who knows more about frivolous law suits than Mr. Angle, this is not frivolous, it is necessary, being Mayor is time consuming if one wants to give it his or her all and address all areas of concerns including complaints from the citizens. Families undoubtedly come in as a second if trying to juggle both seats, just my opinion, priorities?
ReplyDeleteCarol, this post does nothing more than post Morganelli's complaint. I do not see how that is Morganelli-bashing. I did that yesterday. You, better than most, remember that Morganelli refused to get involved w/ this issue when you were on council. He has changed his thinking, and I believe his motives are personal and/or political.
ReplyDeleteEnough of this junk.
ReplyDeleteHow do people fire Morganelli?
How does one impeach a DA?
ReplyDeletewhy wasn't all of this settled before his name was on the ballot for the people to vote for him. It wasn't a secret that he was running. Let the vote speak for itself.
ReplyDeleteI find it funny that Carol Couno has the guts to complain about Ron Angle. Everyone in Bangor Boro is paying for the debacles perpetrated under her mayorship in the 1990's, and will continue to pay for. Is it her hatred for Ron? Does she dislike Joe Cap?
ReplyDeleteWhere was all this outrage when her demo cronies on County council appointed Tony Branco to a republican seat? And talk about the horrible job he did.
Carol just fade away and save yourself the truth.
a Real Slater
Cuono left a shit stain in Bangor that still lingers. Perhaps she was hamstrung be her selectively short memory.
ReplyDeleteMorganelli must go.
This appears to be legit. From the PA document entitled Elective Offices in Local Governement dated Sept 2003 clearly states:
ReplyDeleteNo elected county officer or county solicitor can serve at the same time as a school director........Persons holding the following local elective offices cannot at the same time be a school director: county commissioner, districtattorney, mayor, council member, township commissioner, township supervisor, tax collector, treasurer, assessor, assistant assessor, controller, auditor or constable.
Carol is a great lady and great Mayor, those hating are the Angle nutty teabaggers. They live to hate, that is why they come here.
ReplyDeleteAnon 7:47, laid it out as clearly as possible if you are interested in the rule of law. Ohare holds no standing anymore on the rule of law.
All the smoke and mirrors by Ohare and his mancrush Angle, all the Angle bombast and money won't change the fact he is in violation of the law. All for a few more minutes on the TV screen.
The man is a craven fraud.
I admire and respect Carol Cuomo. As the personal attacks against her are inappropriate, the attack at Angle by Anon 11:56 is just as mindless.
ReplyDeleteAnon 1:01 yes, so when a mother wants child support she will pay the courts an hourly wage. When a family is accused of neglect, the person who reports it will pay an hourly wage. Asanine.
ReplyDeleteBernie's world is about the size of Nazareth boro. blah blah says the pundit.
