They must be friendly Crips.

The Hoover Criminal Gang's were once Crips, the word "Hoover" comes from a boulevard of the same name that runs through certain areas in South Central Los Angeles. The Hoover Criminals came out of the Gangster Crip sets, but around 1979, the Gangster Crip sets began feuding with the Neighborhood Crip sets. These rivalries are perhaps the oldest of Crip on Crip feuds that has lead to hundreds of these gangs to kill each other since the feud began in 1979. This feud mainly consists between the Rollin 60's who are part of the Neighborhood Crip sets and the Eight Tray Hoover's. Around 1995 the Hoover Gangs decided to be a gang on its own because of their deadly feuds with many Crip sets. The Hoovers decided to keep the letter "C" but changed its meaning from "Crip" to "Criminal".
ReplyDeleteThe Eight Tray Hoovers (ETG, 83 Hoover) hold the biggest gang turf in South Central, its gang turf is about five miles long. Other Hoover Gangs are the 74 Hoover (Seven Foe), Bay Bayz, Raskals, Everyday Hoover (ED Hoover), Hoover Crime Gang and others.
The Hoovers are so big that many other Hoover gangs do not know that they are no longer Crips in some parts of the world. The word Hoover has also been known to be spelled "Hoova", some Hoover sets in parts of the country say "Hoova Crip". The Hoover Gangs are still considered to be part of the Gangster Crip sets, but they now feud with Crips, Bloods, Sur13. The Hoovers only unite with Piru sets in Prisons (they do this because the Piru sets are now a gang on its own as well and are no longer considered Blood gangs).
The Hoover gangs still keep close ties with the Hoover Crips that decided not to change to Hoover Criminals in 1995. The Hoover gangs also are on good terms with a few Crip sets in some areas of the World. What makes the Hoover gangs unique is that it also has Blood sets as well that are conisdered to be part of the Hoover Family.
The Hoover Gangs use the orange color and in some cases use it along with the blue color, the Hoovers still say "Cuz" like all other Crip gangs do but they now prefer to say "Grove" or "Groove". They also use a five pointed star or the star of david because they also unite with the Gangster Disciples of Chicago.
This answer seems a bit flippant and if they meant to calm the public, I don't think they did a good job. The Anonymous above, though wordy, did a better job of possibly explaining the situation. "We can see them playing basketball together" only invokes images of two overweight cops eating doughnuts watching the world go by from the glass windows of the Dunkin Donuts.
ReplyDeleteIs there a problem here?
ReplyDeleteThey will never come into my neighborhood so why should I worry about it.
You all are overreacting to this whole thing. These are just a bunch of kids and will grow out of it.
The cops and schools can handle these situations just fine. That is their job.
Why we pay law enforcement right?
Why bother the public with these trifling issues?
Ah, come on I am just kidding!
Lt. Scott Casterline admits that Hoover Crips have recently moved in Shadtown, but that's no reason to expect an imminent gang war.
ReplyDeleteI suppose they'll be collecting for Unicef soon.
.
While I'm not expert in gangs, from what I understand if their numbers are small they will lay low, just getting a lay of the land. The problems really begin when they grow in strength.
.
I have also watched some episodes of Gangland on the History Channel. It's chilling how heartless and uncaring these gang types are.
.
What should trouble Casterline is while these groups may not be very active right now, they will start indoctrinating very young children into gang life, producing a criminal mind set that can be impossible to reverse in their later lives.
I wonder if anyone knows who Anon 2:29 is?
ReplyDeleteWhat a nasty attitude to be so negative. Shame. Shame.
Someone needs to find something to do.
Might do well to learn to focus on principles and not personalities.
I'm sure they're just in town to play hoops and socialize. They're just like Kiwanis or the Optimist Club! I guess they're technically considered "community organizers" which we all know from our president as the high calling of American civic life (unless you oppose Obamacare, then you're unpatriotic and disruptive).
ReplyDeleteMy God, what happened to Easton? Every story gets worse. Shootings on Third Street just blocks from EPD HQ. They are a caricature of Keystone Kops (flipping cars, driving through store windows, etc.) led by a recycled chief who was appointed by a recycled mayor who keeps telling us it's getting better when it's getting worse. I should take EPD's advice and simply not believe my lyin' eyes.
"This is just Ohairy's way of saying he hates black people."
ReplyDeleteHow true. Actually, I hate everyone.
Bernie is anti-Windish.
ReplyDeleteI think they may be forming a gang, too.
ReplyDelete"OK, folks. Nothing to see here. Keep it moving. That's right. Keep your heads down, put these bullet proof vests on, don't have any more kids, and don't leave your house. Everything's under control. Keep it moving."
ReplyDeleteEaston is like what happened to Hill Valley in Back To The Future II. Very dark and scary.
ReplyDeleteIf the Crips Basketball Club plays past dark at Raspberry Street Playground, they'll be ticketed and given a stern talking to.
Ohair can censor all he wants. Facts are facts. Easton has more gang members now, since Stoffa became County Executive.
ReplyDeleteDeal with it. stoffa came and so did the gangs. The County has turned its back on Easton and this is the result.
You are one sick puppy.
ReplyDeleteAnon, how on Earth is Stoffa responsible for bringing gangs to town? He doesn't strike me as someone who would be that popular in the hood...but maybe...wait--gimme a beat--
ReplyDelete"Yo, I'm sittin' on my sofa
rappin' cuz I'm Stoffa--"
Luckily Homeboy has a day job.
Stoffa is the only progressive on crime reduction that we have in local government (in Easton anyway), as far as I can tell. He's been pushing for the rehab facility on the outskirts of Bethlehem for a while, and managed not to let the issue die, despite the push-back.
It's funny how folks in Bethlehem are content to send us hardened criminals to put in a jail in the middle of our most densely populated neighborhood (a jail, set to expand this year, by the way) but they can't stomach housing recovering addicts on the outskirts of town.
At the City level, it's ye old "enforcement-only" policy, a completely outdated model that clearly is not working, as if we were living on the set of L.A. Confidential, and all it takes is rounding them up and locking them away.
If we don't start reducing the demand in this supply-and-demand drug market, both through rehab and youth programming, we're never going to get the drug problem in the Lehigh Valley under control.
At least Stoffa isn't living in the past, and is open to progressive methods of crime-reduction, as far as I've heard--has anyone heard differently?
I agree. Stoffa has sponsered a "let a con live in your home", program. It is super neat. All you lovers can put up these poor misunderstood junkies and addicts and dealers in your home. They can learn about love and brotherhood.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a great idea.
Oh, by the way the Bethlehem facility is still just a speach. Dispite all the backdoor campaigning for Stoffa by Atiyh there is no facility yet.
But who knows? Stoffa owes Atiyh big time and we all know money talks.
Stoffa knows nobody anything. Your hate-filled rant, full as it is w/ obnvious lies, pretty much establishes you for what you are.
ReplyDeleteRetired ASD teacher here.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any knowledge about Easton's gang problem, but I would imagine it's similar to what I DO know about, Allentown.
Gang activity in the Lehigh Valley is a very real problem. There are at least six identifiable gangs working in Allentown. They involve hundreds and hundreds of people. These groups only understand street justice, who is the bigger bully.
What's most sad is the reach of the gang activity. It pervades Allentown schools. Young kids wear the colors, make the signs, etc. They behave as emerging bullies would. It's how they are being raised.
Seen it, firsthand. Scary.
Law abiding citizens find the gang lifestyle hard to imagine and even harder to understand. The drug culture of America feeds this beast as well as broken families, child abuse and neglect, offers of money to small kids as an entry point to a life of crime and gang affiliation. What can we do to stem the tide? Be a good neighbor and try to save just one kid..not the whole city..just one life. If we all just took one kid under our wing and did all we could..the results would be awe inspiring. It's a start..and a good one.

ReplyDeleteAdopt a con coming to your neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteKids can be saved. No one is born a criminal. Intervention is possible and it circumvents the kids to criminal process. Choose compassion instead of the cultural easy way out..throw it away!
ReplyDeleteDave please start the adopt a con program. You could show the way, make some money and save the County millions. Most importantly your compassion will turn these poor souls from a life of crime. They will throw away their crack, their heroin and they will learn to love in the bossom of your home.
ReplyDeleteIt is a dream I have.
Dont listen to the first part, all hoovers know they r supposed to b criminals now there just ot wannabes and dont. The 5 pt star theory is stupid and a lie. The houston astros hat they wear for the H has it. GDz rep a 6 pt star. These wannabes postin all this gang "knowledge" are stupid. If u read the term gang "knowledge" "real right or left" "wave" in regards to bangin its comin from a wannabe fraud.
