What could have made her late? Here's the top ten reasons, as determined by my readers.
10. Traffic jam in densely populated slate belt.
9. Baking cookies.
8. Padding salary at POM.
7. She's still looking for that damn shoe.
6. She was busy memorizing the names of world leaders.
5. She wasn't late. Everyone else was early.
4. Was waiting forever for "light" rail.
3. She was busy practicing a Southern accent for the slate belt.
2. Making plans for her next campaign.
1. Standing in line during bank runs at Wachovia and Sovereign.
Boy number six would mean she is working harder than sarah Palin to be electable.
ReplyDeleteWorst part is, #2 is the truth. After a few more failed runs she'll get the title "Lifetime Campaigner."
ReplyDeleteThey shoot horses..don't they?

ReplyDeleteI'm going to be picky here. In the past there have been some pretty grossly sexist comments posted on this site regarding Sam Bennett. You have definitely dialed it back and addressed it (in concert, I think, with your affection for Sarah palin) but #s 7 and 9 struck me as inappropriate. Seriously, enough with the freaking cookie baking and female politicians.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, I'm a democratic woman that probably won't vote for Bennett.
You claim there have been "some pretty grossly sexist comments posted on this site regarding Sam Bennett." I think you're right, and around the time of the Kieklak incident, that's when I started paying attention. It bothered me that I could notice offensive remarks concerning a female blogger, but completely miss even worse comments when they are made about Sam Bennett. In addition to that, when I met Sam for my interview with her, she told me some of the things she experienced in her first run for mayor. I decided then to be vigilant and guard against the misogyny.
ReplyDeleteI have also been careful about Sarah Palin and Hillary, both of whom were unfairly attacked because they are women.
I also supported Hillary. Although I like Sarah Palin, I have to be honest and tell you I've pretty much decided to vote for Obama.
Are #7 and #9 sexist? No. Let me explain.
#7: looking for her shoe - During her Channel 69 debate, Bennett actually lost her shoe and they had to take a "shoe break" so she could find it. I was not referencing any tendency by women to be obsessed with different shoes.
#9: baking cookies - at one time, Bennett claims to have had a cookie baking business. This was no slam at her gender.

ReplyDeleteI forgot to check back on this blog, but I appreciate the explanations and let you off the hook -this time!
HILLARY CLINTON ENDORSES SAM BENNETT FOR CONGRESS
ReplyDeleteToday, U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) endorsed Sam Bennett for Congress to represent Pennsylvania’s 15th congressional district.
“Sam is someone who knows how to roll up her sleeves and get things done for people in her community, and she will bring that same dedication with her to Washington,” said Senator Clinton. “The Lehigh Valley needs positive solutions and real change and Sam Bennett will join the Obama-Biden team in making that happen.”
“I am so grateful to have Hillary Clinton’s support,” said Bennett. “For 35 years, she’s been a vocal advocate and leader for women and families, fighting every day to make good on what she calls the basic bargain – if you work hard and you're responsible, you deserve every opportunity to succeed.”
Bennett added, “Together, we can rescue our country from the Wall Street economic crisis with a plan that ensures aggressive oversight, keeps people in their homes, and helps taxpayers protect their retirement savings.”
Anon 3:21,
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me off the hook - this time. Keep an eye on me. I also happen to like Sam, but can't support her.
