Don't Get Caught Reading This Blog!

Animal Farm. The Catcher in the Rye. The Grapes of Wrath. Uncle Tom's Cabin. Lehigh Valley Ramblings?

Wait a 'tic!

What does my online rag have to do with those masterpieces? Not much, really. But I have now joined the ranks of publications that others have tried to suppress.

Lehigh Valley Somebody, an artsy-fartsy blog aimed at foo-foos, is actively encouraging readers to stay far, far away from this evil place. Two of its last three blogs have pretty much told readers that if you spend more than five minutes here, you'll turn into a Republican or worse, a Democrat. Apparently, I suppress "healthy dissent," and we all know the best cure for that is even more suppression.

The campaign against me is being called "Boycott Bernie."

Lehigh Valley Somebody, a moderated blog, is a Bill and Angie Villa production. They started the Chen Arts Group.

It's called CHARGE.

Months ago, I supported Villa's quixotic quest for a Morning Call meeting. Alas, I was unwilling to support him as much as he would have liked.

No good deed goes unpunished.

This is actually good news for me. Nothing makes people want something more than when someone else tells them they can't have it.

So thanks, Bill and Angie. I appreciate all the traffic you're steering this way. Be sure and tell all your friends NOT to stop here.

I'm going to become a little more refined, and plan on forming a "Free Arts" program.

I'm calling it FARTS.

  1. Bernie,

It is a shame that Lehigh Valley Somebody has gone off the deep end. What is more troubling is their call for a boycott of dissenting views. As artists they should know better. Clearly they don't.

  2. in villa's current blog they write;
"....co-created by disbarred attorney Bernie O'Hare and practicing (for now) attorney David C. Najarian, Lynn Township Supervisor, a.k.a. “Northern Lehigh Valley Logic,” to humiliate and (hopefully) scare away a grieving father fighting for justice:"

    somebody reading their quote would assume that two people, with a legal background, have out of the blue, cruelly decided to humiliate a grieving father, fighting for justice no less. little would they know!! O'Hare actually helped them publicize their complaint against the district attorney and newspaper. Months later, when the Morning Call announced "Blogger Tuesday" Bill Villa wondered aloud if it might dampen blogger criticism of the newspaper? It was a fair question, but Bill didn't ask it once, he asked it over and over. He started claiming over and over those who participated were "aquiver sellouts". He send emails demanding people take his side on the issue, and then escalated to threats. He started posting his opinion on other people's blogs, endlessly, under his name, pseudonymously and anonymously. He started a campaign which he labeled counterattacking, villa wrote the following;

" I admitted and apologized to Michael for having posted several anonymous "snarks" at him recently that called into question his motives regarding Fairview Cemetery, i.e., that he was using Morning Call and "Blogger Tuesday" publicity re: Fairview to further his mayoral aspirations. It was wrong of me to do this considering I don't have any proof. I did it out of frustration that MM (who I had considered a friend) wasn't publicly defending me when Bernie O'Hare quashed my Morning Call dissent in his posts of August 1 and August 8 when MC Opinions VP Glenn Kranzley was "visiting" LV Ramblings for feedback from Bernie's readers. "

Bernie had let him have his say, only after saying it over and over, and knowing Villa would use any available hammer against Kranzley and the Morning Call, did Bernie say enough already. Villa's endless comments were dominating not only Bernie's Blog, but also Donovan's and Narjarian's. In my case, i was long before told by the Villa's not to comment on their blog. I received no less than half a dozen threatening emails from them, here's one:

. and please try your best to follow this, GlazeOver Boy, it's as simple as 1, 2, 3 ...

    1. Bernie is, and has been, doing Angie and me wrong-- very wrong. major big time wrong. Illegally wrong.

    2. I practically genuflected with respect, right outta the gate, asking that you, and Donovan, and AJ (our friends?) inter-fuckin-cede and tell Bernie he was off fuckin base and to knock it the fuck off. All 3 of you had no interest in doing this, a.k.a. no fuckin' guts and no fuckin' loyalty.

    3. Bad decisions result in bad consequences.

You could have, and you still can, jump in there at any time and publicly condemn what Bernie is doing.

You do that and I'll publicly apologize to you for my retaliations against you.

Otherwise, if you see me approaching ... you know what to do ...

    Mr. Dottie/Bill Villa

from a former email i know i'm supposed to cross over to the other side of the street if i know what's good for me. previously, when villa and o'hare first started disagreeing about blogger tuesday i was told by villa i had to choose a side, i was either with them or against them.

So there you have it, Villa is a grieving father who we all feel for, but he is also a bully who abuses those who tried to help him, and who doesn't hesitate to distort and manipulate the facts for his own agenda

  3. Bernie Villa's blog is just plain stupid. Vendictive is a kind word for this crap.
Bernie I applaud you and your work. Unfortunately success seems to be always condemned in this world.

  4. Well, it's too bad that Villa's mental illness ruined his wife's blog. I really liked it.

  5. Does anyone else see the irony of this posting after highlighting Dingle's remark about Palin?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Ooops. Rangel. Where'd I get Dingle?

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'm not sure what Charlie Rangel's remark about Palin, which I noted in the post about Rangel, has to do with this.

Amazingly, Villa is commenting at LVSomebody about this post and is snarking the people who comment here. Essentially, Villa is violating his own boycott. I sure hope Villa doesn't tell Villa or there will be hell to pay. He might have to boycott himself.

  11. Bernie, at the end of the day..is it really worth the time or effort to patronize said issue?

Can't we all just get along?

    ReplyDelete
  12. No, it's not worth the time or effort. You are absoolutely right about that. No we all can't get along. The price of having opinions is enemies, and I've got lots of both.

  15. Bernie, you perform a great public service. I just read your post about the Lehigh Valley Partnership. Where else are we going to get those details? Nowhere! I also like the way you deal with the blogger who's smearing you. Takes cuhones (sp?)and you got `em.

Mr. O'Hare's flip-flop on the Villa matter is a slap in the face to his readers, his profession, and the memory of a 25-year-old woman who just wanted to go home. After fancying himself a keeper of the torch of truth and integrity for so long, and to the extent that he eventually found himself championing the Villas' cause, this reversal in thinking and aggressive behavior is a profound obscenity. Not to mention that his apparent hop into bed with the DA-friendly Morning Call looks like a confederacy of weaklings. Anybody home, Allentown? Feel like moving even farther away.
