Obamamama Pulls Fast One on Morning Call

In a letter to the editor published in The Morning Call yesterday, Lower Macungie Township resident Cathy Gregor - lifelong Republican and "dittohead" to boot - claims she's switched parties just so she can vote for Barack Obama.

You go, girl!

But guess what? It's an Obamabomb. According to The Allentown Commentator, the only Cathy Gregor from Lower Macungie Township registered to vote has been a registered Democrat since 1984. Last time she voted was in 2004.

Maybe she thought she was Republican. These Obama supporters are starting to get as nutty as Ron Paul's regiments.

Correction: She also voted in 2007, as a D.

  1. Someone who would blog about this has serious BO problems. You represent the RIGHT GUARD with such blogging practices, but the wrong people are likely to get in the White House if people are too afraid to vote for this Black man.

  2. Why wouldn't Glenn Kranzley sniff out this obvious fraudulent letter? He probably suspected it was fraudulent but it advanced the cause of Liberalism.

  3. Anon 6:q5, How does Glenn advance the cause of liberalism bny publishing a LTE that is so easily refuted? He took the lady at ther word, and let's face it, there may be another Cathy Gregor out there.

Excuse me? Pointing out a likely fraud makes me right wing? Pointing this out hurts Obama?

No, it points out that some of his followers are whack jobs, and they are. You have to stop thinking of this dude in mystical terms.

  5. Bernie, if you are going to spy on private citizens like this, it is you that is the problem.

  6. Thank you for blogging about this. The truth matters. Even if Sen. Obama is the best candidate to run against Sen. McCain, that doesn't justify making false statements in the paper. No candidate with integrity would want this sort of disingenuous LTE on their behalf, as I suspect Sen. Obama does not.

If someone really wants to show support for Sen. Obama through a LTE, he or she needs to be honest with the public about themselves. This goes for letters regarding any candidate.

  7. Im not "too afraid to vote for this Black man"
It has nothing to do with his race. I won't vote for him because he is a liar, because he pads his totally blank resume and because he uses dirty political tricks like attacking Hillary's experience and character and primarily because he attends a racist church and he has a racist belief system that to this day he stands by all at the same time saying he wants to be some great "uniter"
Wake up, this guy is not worthy of the Presidency OR of a Senate position

  8. Anon 12:18,

I think all of the remaining presidential candidates are pretty classy people. Moreover, because Barack was elected senator, he is by definition "worthy."

On the merits, I really am having a rought time, to be honest. I think Obama supporters tend to get a tad fanatical, but he himself is fine by me.

Sorry, this has almost nothing to do with this topic, but . ..

I can no longer post at Morning Call Forum. I've tried it several ways, but my actual internet ID is rejected. I can do what I want if I start-up using a proxy server.

Why, oh why, do racist pigs have more privilege at that site than a fair-minder responder?

I'll say this, Sam Zell's investment is becoming troublesome for him. He's about to sell off assets. I sincerely hope the Morning Call is available, someone buys it, recognizes the need to purge the Call's current leadership, and we get back to an "unfiltered" display of news and opinion.

Wake up, Lehigh Valley, these knuckleheads are doing everything possible to control your mind.

    Reject that!

  17. Hillary lied about Bosnia; the newly popular, "misremembered," notwithstanding.

McCain lied viciously about Bush being the source of SC primary robocalls that said McCain fathered an illegitimate black child.

Obama lied about the depth of his association with his long-time, hate-mongering pastor.

These are just a few examples. In McCain's and Hillary's cases, it's almost pathological. Obama will get there, he just hasn't been around long enough. They all lie. They are politicians.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I don't share that view. In order to reach that conclusion about people you've never met and know little about, you have to assume too many things.

Do you think Hillary would deliberately lie about a claim so easily disproved? Didn't Obama, in a heartfelt speech, acknowledge the extent of his association with that pastor? What is your evidence that McCain ever claimed, even once, that Bush was the source of those sleazy robocalls? Bush has even endorsed the guy.

  19. Thomas Sowell wrote, “John McCain could never convince me to vote for him, only Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama could do that”. 22. Why did this "Obamamama" posting ever become front page news? Since when is it against the law to write a LTE and support a candidate? I read Cathy's article and saw nothing wrong with it. There were several other LTE political views on the same page. No one has brought them up. In the general election you can vote for whoever you chose, also you can chose to not vote at all. I want to know from Scott Armstrong and Bernie why a private citizens right to vote for whoever he or she wants to or their reasons why they feel that way become a reason to single out this private citizen of the United States of America to the point where she needs to be singled out on two local blogs. I am sorry I had to even write this but this entire thing is unjust. Thank you.

  23. When someone publicly makes a claim about the presidential race that is demonstrably false, it becomes relevant. Ms. Gregor publicly proclaimed she is a steadfast R, and that be true. Her letter was puishished prominently with a headline that went something like "Dittohead for Obama."

But her voting records show her as a steadfast D. Ms. Gregor also claims she has been voting for over 50 years, but voting records show she was not born until 1947.

Now it is entirely possible that an Obama fanatic would mislead the MSM into believing that the Obama message is so eloquent that it persuaded a dittohead to jump ships. It is also possible that Ms. Gregor is a nice lady who is just confused.

In either case, her claim is inconsistent with her voting records, and the published LTE misleads the reader into thinking that diehard Rs are so compelled by Obama that they are flocking to him. It's relevant to point out that in Ms. Gregor's case, the claim does not withstand scrutiny.

    I am for Barack Obama.

How can you "misremember" getting fired upon? It is the most ridiculous thing ever and was a blatant falsehood uttered knowingly - in other words, a lie. Stop making excuses for her. That was the single incident that solidified my choice. I'm sure I'm not alone.

  26. Didn't Obama, in a heartfelt speech, acknowledge the extent of his association with that pastor?

Obama first said he never heard any of the so-called hate speech in his twenty years. Then he said he did. He lied.

As for Hillary, you I think she lied about something easily disproved. It happens all the time. Watch The Daily Show for crying out loud. Jon Stewart has made a living off of political lies.

  28. Retired ASD teacher:

As a person who is routinely deleted, banned, muzzled, and denied at The Morning Call, regarding its Forum and blogs, entering its building, having relevant Letters to the Editor and requests to submit op-ed pieces rejected, and being singled out as not worthy of the courtesy of The Morning Call Editorial Board's "Welcome Mat" that is "always out for those who want to be heard," I agree with everything you said at 2:57 pm and I think it has plenty to do with the topic.

I'm hoping Sam Zell busts up The Morning Call for kindling wood.

Or, if he's really interested in a "better product," as he claims, he'll start throwing the bums who run The Morning Call out the door along with select/tenured gas bag alkie court reporters who kiss DA Jim Martin's large and lazy ass and lie for him in print.

If we can't have a good newspaper in Allentown, let's at least be spared all the aggravation The Morning Call causes so many of us, daily, with its arrogance, stupidity, transparently framed agendas, blurry off-register photographs, typos, errors, lies, pompous opinions, clannishness, missed deliveries, annoying sense of monopoly entitlement, ivory tower inaccessibility, and pages that aren't all the same width.

TELL ZELL: We're mad as hell and we're not gonna take delivery of it anymore.

I've still got some meat on my bones. I'll contact Zell directly as soon as I "break the code." It can be done, and I'll do it.

Like you, I enjoy starting my day with a (hard copy) newspaper. Unfortunately, where I live, the Morning Call is my only option.

As each day passes, I realize the Morning Call is more about agenda then about delivering the news. I resent that.

    Shameful of the Call, actually.

  30. Anon 8:01 - Even if HC doesn't get the Democratic nomination, she'll still be in Congress - she's a sitting Senator.

And I think she's a good Senator - perhaps even a better Senator than she would be a President. If HC is in the higher echelons of my government, I prefer to see her in the Senate

Obama, on the other hand, has shown a great deal of courage and I believe he has demonstrated the strength of character we NEED in a President - his refusal to take money from lobbyists is an act that has put him in the crosshairs.

McCain? He is abusive to women, he cannot keep his facts straight, he "bends to every breeze", and I worry about his age and his health.

  35. Bill whites blog 2/15/06 " The author is reader Cathy Gregor, who marked her e-mail “copyright 2006,” but gave me permission to reproduce it.

“Thank God the holidays are over,” she wrote, “there is just so much frenzy trying to get the right gifts, and let’s face it, most of them get returned. Now we are all settled in and feel comfortable after we unloaded our unwanted gifts, if you were lucky enough to get receipts to return them. If not, I wonder how many people ‘recycle’ the gifts and stash them away to pass on to some other schmuck next year.

“I had to run into the store the other day and was shocked that Valentine's sales are displayed next to the ‘close out’ Christmas sales. It was bad enough last year just getting through Thanksgiving and see Christmas trees even before we cooked our Thanksgiving turkey.

“Well, I guess that is what 2006 turns into and ‘gently’ pushes us into the next holiday. Yes, Valentine's Day is next.

“I guess I am just a rebel of sorts, I say, let’s just ‘lock and load’ and wait for that darn fairy dressed in red with wings and his bow and arrows shooting love around, like drunken sailors on leave at the local bar shooting darts, and is officially called cupid.

“First of all, cupid is not real and what would be wrong to have a hunting season designated for the fairy? Well, think about it, we usually eat only chocolate for Valentine's, which your ‘cupid’ gives you, and if you are really lucky, you also get a bunch of flowers, too. After you gush over the flowers and suck down the box of chocolates, which immediately adds five! pounds to your hips, you look up adoringly into his face and his eyes are ‘glowing’ like a werewolf ready to pounce. STOP RIGHT THERE.

“No, we do have a choice: chocolate, flowers or JEWELRY. Come on, girls, don't wimp out, just go for the good stuff. Chocolate goes to your hips, flowers wilt and die, but gold or silver jewelry you can wear for a lifetime. I say, let’s all ban together and kick cupid's butt! Tell the bugger for Valentine’s to take his bow and arrow and shove it.

“All right girls, let’s chant together, ‘WHO LET THE DOGS OUT.’ That is the cheer for our men and their sports, and it can work for us, too. Maybe if we all ban together to grunt and cheer like they do, we could all make out like ‘bandits’ for Valentine’s, instead of just chocolate and flowers.”

For the record, I gave my wife ... chocolate and flowers. But hey, I threw in a heart-shaped balloon.

    ReplyDelete
  37. A reproduced copy of her voting record is not hearsay. Her voting record is inconsistent with what she stated in her LTE. It is inconsistent with the truth.

Now Ms. Gregor seems like a nice enough lady. I've spoken with her twice. But what appears in that LTE is not what appears in her voting record. I believe that's relevant when someone takes a position published in one of the 100 largest papers in the country.

    ReplyDelete
  38. My position is that when a blog starts bashing a private citizen with a headline story, the blog has reached a new low and it is no different than an AOL chat room or a Morning Call forum whiched the blogmaster has been complaining about for an entire year. How on earth can you feel good about bashing a private citizen? Now I can see politicians, because they are the ones we have to vote for. But singling out a private citizen for such a "Mickey Mouse" kind of thing??? How on earth can you be so cruel.

    ReplyDelete
  39. How on earth can you feel good about bashing a private citizen?

First, I did not bash anyone.

Second, this private citizen has a LTE published in which she makes certain representations about both her party affiliation and voting patterns. She does so to make a point. But her facts are wrong. It's relevant and important to point out those facts are wrong. Your argument, in effect, is that a private person may publish false information with impunity. I disagree.

I make no apology and would do so again in a heartbeat.

  40. Please investigate Dan Tilli's next LTE and report about it just to be fair to Ms Gregor. Thank You.

  42. One question. BO, you have said you have spoken to Ms Gregor. What is her opinion to what you have done? It should only be fair for her to comment if she wishes. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  43. "Yet all you creatures what to do is bash her. It is a shame the country is coming to this."

This is typical of the left. When one of theirs is caught in the act of lying, instead of excoriating the liar as they should, they jump on the ones who exposes these lies.

Many is the time we hear the left claim that they do not stand for liars on their side. That they get rid of such people, turn their backs on such people, as soon as possible. But the reality is that they circle the wagons around their exposed liars.

"It should only be fair for her to comment if she wishes."

Then whats stopping her from coming here and posting her comments?

    ReplyDelete
  44. BO said..."I make no apology " Fair enough. An apology from you would mean nothing anyway. Its like a rat apologizing for moving into ones basement.

    ReplyDelete
  45. anon 3:10, I made those statements about people bashing Cathy as well it would only be fair for her to comment. The funny thing is I am a registered R ever since 1974 or so, just ask Bernie.. I am sure he has investigated me also. Why would Cathy comment here??? She has already been raked over the coals for no reason except one. I honestly believe that reason is simply Bernie promoting his own blog, plain and simple. How do you think Cathy and her family feel to be singled out like this just for expressing her right to freedom of speech? How would you feel if it happened to you? My entire point about this was and is that I feel it is totally inappropriate for BO to single this woman out just because she wrote a letter to the editor in the newspaper. Voting records? yes they are in the public record. Is it honorable or appropriate to investigate someone just because of a statement> Absolutly not. I am an R who voted for Bush in 2000 and Kerry in 2004. The only 4 letter word in Cathy's LTE was the word VOTE, since when is that a crime? Read this posting fast because it will not be here long. Bernie O'Hare has sent me Emails to stay off his blog. Hows that for Freedom of Speech !!!

  46. Not all, but many of the slurs posted here come from Henry Schaadt. He used to post here as River. He used to attack all the anons because, unlike him, they were unwilling to identify themselves. I eventually had it with him when he went after a female contributor with some nasty, personal attacks. In addition to attacking my readers personally, he is also poorly informed. I sometimes don't even think he reads the posts because the answers to many of his questions are right there. I began deleting his comments and sent him numerous emails to tell him his comments here are unwelcome. He wastes everryone's time and actually discourages discussion.

Now, just like the anons he used to criticize, he trolls this blog to attack people personally. Naturally, he dislikes me. But he pretty much dislikes anyone with a different view than his. He's been deleted on a few other blogs as well.

This Cathy Gregor LTE is just the latest example. Under his ridiculous reasoning, any person can send in a LTE full of lies and no one can question them. Of course, that's BS and Schaadt knows this. Unfortunately, he has wasted hours of my time with his petty and childish rants. When I upgrade my blog, his IP will be blocked. I have no first amendment obligation to listen to trolls.

  49. All right bucko, this is Cathy Gregor and it is time for you to get a life and not use me as your whipping post to make a name for yourself. I wrote you to help me clear this up when the morning call called me about your post which made me sick. You have not only attacked me but also posted on a friends web site that you thought was me. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

I ONLY RESPONDED TO YOU TO HELP ME TO GET COPIES BECAUSE I IN GOOD FAITH THOUGHT THAT I CHANGED TO A REPUBLICAN WHEN I CHANGED MY NAME AND O.K. BUCKO, SO I MADE A FREAKING MISTAKE AND THOUGHT THAT I WAS A FREAKING REPUBLICAN. WHY DIDN'T YOU ALSO POST THAT I CHANGED MY PARTY AS I WROTE TO THE MORNING CALL TO CHANGE MY PARTY AND THEY ALSO HAVE THAT IN THE FILES?

I HAVE KEPT MUM BUT WHEN YOU NOW ATTACK ANY OTHER PEOPLE THINKING THAT IT IS ME YOU ARE ONE SICK PUPPY. TO TOP IT OFF YOU NOW DENY DOING IT WHEN THIS PERSON RESPONDED TO YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS THAT CAME RIGHT BACK TO YOU.

ALL I CAN SAY IS GET A GRIP AND MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE AND STOP USING ME TO MAKE A NAME FOR YOURSELF IN BLOGING. YOU NEVER DID MENTION THE EMAILS THAT I SENT YOU TO ASK ME TO HELP ME TO FIND OUT WHAT THE HECK YOU WERE WRITING ABOUT. YOU DID GIVE ME THE PHONE NUMBER TO CALL AND GET MY VOTING COPIES SENT TO ME AND FOR THAT i THANK YOU. HOWEVER, YOU NEVER POSTED OR SAID WHEN I EMAILED YOU BACK AND SAID YOU WERE RIGHT AND I MYSELF WAS SHOCKED.

NO, OF COURSE YOU DIDN'T, YOU ONLY USED ME TO MAKE YOUR OWN BLOG INTERESTING. I WONDER IF YOU WILL EVEN PRINT THIS.

AS FOR LEEUNA'S SITE ANYONE CAN GO THERE AND SEE THAT YES, YOU DID POST THAT.

I ADMIT THAT I AM ONLY A POINT AND CLICK GIRL ON THIS COMPUTER, BUT I DO HAVE TO SAY THAT YOU ARE A SORRY SCHMUCK FOR NOT TELLING PEOPLE IN YOU BLOG ABOUT WHAT WE DID TALK ABOUT.

I NEVER RESPONDED BEFORE BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT WORTH MY EFFORT AND I JUST TRUST PEOPLE TO THINK THE RIGHT WAY IN LIFE, BUT WHEN YOU INVOLVE OTHERS AND DENY IT, YOU ARE A DANGER TO SOCIETY.

I post three or four blogs per day and don't have time for this silly nonsense.

As far as you are concerned, the simple truth is that you were reistered Democratic while claiming you were Republican. You told me that was a mistake and I believed you. That was the end of the story for me.

But now, you assert I attacked this woman, claiming she was you. I did nothing of the sort. Whoever posted that comment posted a link to my blog, but just about anyone could do that.
