Shocking News in the LV Congressional Race: Boscola's Out

Are you sitting down?

OK. Let me give it to you straight. Lisa Boscola won't be challenging incumbent Charlie Dent in next year's congressional sleeper. So says the Express Times' Jim Deegan.

Quelle surprise!

And Deegan knows what he's talking about. He calls me "madman blogger Bernie O'Hare." Listen, I haven't had to take those little pills for the last three weeks and I'm fine.

Really!

  7. Man, thats old news. Boscola was never serious. Your'e right it was about pride and being in the spotlight. Boscola knows she is lucky to be St. Sen. and would get sliced and diced in the 15th campaign. Don't encourage Deegan, he already thinks he's a journalist.

  9. I hear that since Sam Voluntarily cut her salary in half, they can afford to have their awards banquet catered by Yocco's!

  11. From the MC editorial board Oct 17, 2007 regarding POM

"Stories in The Morning Call raised questions about the process by which Ms. Bennett's salary was raised while the local program was being expanded statewide. Only recently did Lehigh County release a $10,000 grant to the organization that had been withheld pending a review of that decision at the end of 2006 to pay Ms. Bennett $110,000. She asked its board to cut her salary in half in July after The Morning Call reported on the controversy involving Internal Revenue Service guidelines for setting salaries at non-profits.

Just as that news coverage was necessary, so was the controversy unfortunate. As a local, grass-roots organization, Properties of Merit is valuable to Allentown. Now, with the announcement of the latest People's Choice awards to Mr. Bartholomew and others, we need to be reminded of the good that can come from those who work so diligently to spruce up their neighborhoods."

  12. Let's have a town hall-type meeting and discuss why we haven't received invites for Sam Bennett's reception.

The people demand an answer! We will not rest until we get one!

  13. Don't be too hard on Lisa. She delivered Braden airfield to the LVIIA sod Lafayette College.

Lafayette could use an expanding airport finance by state and federal grants as an excuse to continue campus encroachment in Easton - even through the condemnation of private properies in the Buskhill Creek corridor between N. 13th and S. 3rd St. through the threat of eminent domain.

I had Lafayette's President Arthur J. Rothkopf kicked off the LVIIA Board of Governors - a board on which he sat with Lisa - because of his conflict of interest.

The day after I exposed this conflice publicly, Rothkopf resigned from the LVIIA.

  14. And wherein lay Lafayette College's conflict?

It owns 300-plus acres south of and adjacent to the airport.

The college placed deed restrictions on the land it leased to Forks Township for the express purpose stopping the township and the LVIAA from lengthening its runways.

But Lafayette never enforced the deed restrictions.

The airport's expansion will continue because it is a magnet for state and federal transportation handouts.
