Capitol Ideas: Republicans Make Videos as Employees are Sent Home

I always envisioned Capitol Ideas blogger John Micek as the kind of dude who takes the weekend off. I could picture him now, sipping Chablis at some fine dining establishment with Mrs. Capitol Ideas, while Baby Capitol Ideas enchants all present by reading passages from The Wind in the Willows.

My pleasant image was shattered this evening when I noticed that Micek is still blogging his way through the budget impasse.

Get this.

It appears that instead of working on a budget, House Republicans have spent their afternoon shooting a video for YouTube. Looks like we get to pay for it, too.

Whoopee!

It's one of those faux grass roots pieces produced by well-paid marketers. Micek likes it, but Transformers is ten times better. Dems made that movie on Tuesday, and cast Sam (I don't need no stinkin' license) Rohrer as Megatron.

  1. Kill the messenger, to kill the message? Truth about Rendel should never get out. :p

  2. The truth about Rendell? Nothing's stopping you from stating it. But when you hire slicksters to play that spin machine instead of really trying to cobble out an agreement, you show yoiurselves as the phonies you are.

And as for the Dems, they're just as guilty. According to Micek, they were doing the robocall thing.

In case you don't realize it, that's why people are disgusted with partisan hacks and the political parties.

  4. The last thing we need is more propaganda...

    JUST SIGN THE BUDGET ALREADY!

I don't think the state needs 2,400 more unemployment cases, with nobody to file claims (I'm assuming - not sure if that part would be affected or how that would work with the hopefully-only temporary layoffs. Correct me on this if I'm way off.)

I hope everything works out by Monday!

  5. They cut my youtube refrence. But the letter is still harsh on the GOP doing the "Blame game" and being such "flip floppers"

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
