Is Ron Angle Vulnerable?

The Emperor, Ron Angle, faced no primary opponent in his bid for re-election to a third term on Northampton County Council. But a review of the county's totals for 85% of the precincts, reveals that Angle must have some enemies in his own party. Of the 3,892 votes cast by Republicans in his district, Angle captured only 2,723. There were 45 write-in votes, and 1,124 chose to skip his race completely.

I wonder how many of those 45 write-ins went to Jolly Joe Timmer?

  1. Bernie,

I think the R's expected him to win.

    I say Ron's a lock for re-election,

The one that FLOORED me was Falcone for DJ.

  2. well, I know I'm comparing apples to oranges here, but I think it's an interesting one none the less. Rick Santorum had a lot of Republicans who refused to vote for him in the 2006 primary and this was pointed out. Santorum lost. The commonality is that both were very combative at a time when voters are not interested in that crap any more.

1/3 of the GOP voters effectively said, not worth my vote. That's a potential problem for Ron.

Bernie, I think you might have seen something that others are going to be very quick to dismiss as they did with Santorum's primary performance.

  3. LvDem!

Ron evokes high passions, even in his own district. He's a love him or hate him kind of guy. And you love him!

  4. Russ,

Falcone worked her ass off and had the advantage of Rodney Applegate. Her real personality did not become apparent to me until the Friday before the election. And it demonstrates she has no judicial temperamnet. She'l lose in the Fall, aspecially after saying all those nice things about Buskirk and the police officers who were in the hunt.

  8. I ran into John Maher while going in to vote. The first thing out of his mouth was a disparaging remark against Mr. Angle. That disappointed me.

John has always been a nice guy but Boss Long and the others have gotten to him. I hope Ron trounces him in November. He has gone from heading up the Slate Belt Concerned Citizens to being a complete sell-out to the "political machine."

  9. Windgapper,

I'm very sorry to hear that John Maher is disparaging Angle, who very often was the sole council member speaking out against Wal-Mart. John has apparently morphed from a concerned citizen to Joe Long puppet.

What Maher does not know is that Angle, despite high negatives, will probably get more Dem votes than him.

  10. I have been told if you say 'Ron Angle-Mike Soloman' ten times with your eyes closed, the world will end. I know it sounds crazy, but I'm afraid to try.
