Rendell's Six Point Reform Plan
I told you yesterday about Gov. Ed Rendell's proposal to select, instead of elect, our judges. Today's Morning Call commends Rendell, not for any of his specific reforms, but because he has the political clout to get something done. A transcript of Rendell's proposals is here.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.

The unmitigated gall of this governor knows no bounds. This is the guy who spent the surplus in the budget to get himself re-elected to the same office. He fires no one for the snow disaster, had the nerve to ask for a monstrous tax increase and then wants to load our courts with his retched attorney cronies. To paraphrase a famous comedian, "Vhat a commonwealth". When are we going to pull out the flintlocks and get rid of this bodacious piece of excrement?

ReplyDeleteI am a die hard Republican, but there comes a time when you look at voting records, ideas, etc. and not just tow the party line. Bernie, as much as I disagree with most of your politics, I do agree with your sense of right and wrong concerning public office.
That said, the republicans should have given us an experienced candidate for governor. Makes me wonder if there weren't some back room deals going on between the
parties.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice words and your comment. The GOP bosses in the land of midnight payraises forced Swann down your throat, and bullied Scranton into dropping out. As a result, Swann was not vetted. People did not learn how unprepared he was until it was too late. Nice guy, but not ready for prime time.
I'm very happy that a die hard R would read this blog. We need to listen to each other. We've become too divided, more so than at any time since the civil war. I appreciate your contributions. We're all Americans.
Concepts like open and accountable government transcend party lines, especially on a local level. I don't think it matters so much whether one is a D or an R when it comes to the Sunshine Act, Right to Know Law or caving in to major campaign contributors.
