Norco Councilperson Neiper: A Teacher Who Can't Count
I told you last week that Northampton County Council's election of Diane Neiper as Vice President, violated the Home Rule Charter. First, Council Prez Grube changed the time of the meeting so that Tony Branco could attend. Only county council, and not its president, has authority to decide the time, date and place of a meeting. Second, Neiper violated the conflict of interest provisions in the charter when she laughingly voted for herself.
She's not laughing now. After a discussion with the council's solicitor, she concedes her vote for herself was improper. But she tells the Morning Call "the point is moot because she still had enough votes to get elected Tuesday."
Excuse me?
Excluding her vote for herself, Neiper had just four votes. That's not enough in a nine person council, even if one of them is absent.
Neiper claims her thirty-four years of teaching gives her all the skills she needs to be council VP. Those skills apparently do not include counting.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
There honestly is nothing I can say about this just look at the ceiling

Applicable? (Think in terms of the public's perception of how politicians operate!) They just don't understand, do they?
So my question is when is the next council meeting so the public can speak up about the BS going on here...
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:10, Wow! Frank Herbert is one of my favorite authors. The spice must flow!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are so right. People who read this story do not have a clue what Neiper revealed about herself.
GreenDog, While Neiper makes this idiotic statement, Council Prez Wayne Grube is unavailable for comment. he was quick to make a deal over the phone with his pals on council, but is not so quick to talk to the public.
ReplyDeleteLST, the next council meeting will be 1/18 at 6:30 PM.
ReplyDeleteSo are there any dead bodies encased in the new court house foundation?
ReplyDeleteFortunately, they don't act that way.
ReplyDeleteSorry i forgot you don't have any sense of humor
ReplyDeleteGreenDog, Not my style to kid like that. I don't like what Wayne et al are doing, but I wouldn't even jokingly accuse them of sinister things like that. Someone will always take it seriously. That's why I inserted thatr clarification. Didn't mean to offend you. But I'd rather do that than let someone think there is any basis to your joke.
ReplyDeleteSilly people, Diane Neiper is a business teacher. You don't need to actually count to be in business, do you???
ReplyDeleteA one, a two, a one, two three
ReplyDeletefour, whoops, better take off my shoes! lost count again!
Here's how bad things are in Norco: Ron "Dees, Dem, Dose" Angle is considered the articulate spokesman for moderation and logical thinking. Brrrrr.
ReplyDeleteAt least he can count.
