Joe Brennan in the 133rd: Why Not the Best?

The 133rd legislative district includes parts of Allentown, Bethlehem, Catasauqua, Coplay, Fountain Hill, Hanover, Salisbury and Whitehall. Candidates for this open seat include Democrat Joe Brennan, Republican Dawn Berrigan and Green Guy Gray. Of these three candidates, Joe Brennan is clearly the best. In fact, he's the best candidate for state rep. in the Lehigh Valley.

Fountain Hill resident Joe Brennan, a Lehigh Valley native, is the best of both worlds - a maverick who knows how the system works. It's no surprise he was the first Lehigh Valley candidate to be endorsed by The Express Times. Joe distinguished himself on Northampton County Council, where he promoted reforms to the Home Rule Charter and Administrative Code. And he was the only councilman equally at ease with Ron Angle and Wayne Grube. That's where he first developed his independent streak. At the same time, he was employed as State Rep. T. J. Rooney's chief of staff, and received an invaluable education about what goes on in the state house. And guess what? Brennan is promoting a reform package that extends from term limits to a new state Constitutional Convention. He has pledged (1) to serve no more than ten years and (2) to refuse any payraises or cost of living adjustments during his time in office.

Catasauqua school board member Dawn Berrigan seems to think it's important she's the only candidate with her own website! Really? I'm also pretty sure Brennan signed Guy Gray's nomination petition. These candidates just aren't in the same league with Joe. No one is.

In addition to the Express Times, The Morning Call has endorsed Joe Brennan. I'd like to post his picture. He's about seventeen feet tall and weighs thirteen pounds. He claims to be a runner, but I could kick his ass.

  1. Bernie - Bob Freeman's the best candidate in the Valley, even if he doesn't have a real opponent, Brennan is very good too, though.

  2. Bob's the best man in the valley. He's not a great candidate. Not good at fundraising and takes things way too personally. But yeah, as a legislator and servant, he's the best.

  3. Freeman's a good man, but he has no opponent who is actually on the ballot. Joe is the best of those facing opponents.
