This time she's means it. Really!
Her supposed focus is getting our troops out of Iraq and ending our reliance on foreign oil. Yet I didn't see her at an oil independence rally this summer in South Bethlehem, only blocks from her house. I did see Charles Dertinger, the Democratic nominee.
No matter. She has the support of our local King of the Greens, Joe DeRaymond. He's issued a royal proclamation to the Express Times, ordering us to vote for Browne. In his edict, DeRaymond disingenuously maintains Dertinger "has brought the manic Ron Angle into the campaign." That should be news to Dertinger, Dent and Angle.
King Joe, you may recall, is one of the bullies who barged into Congressman Dent's Bethlehem office without an appointment and refused to leave at quitting time. He was convicted of trespass, and LEPOCO just threw him a party.
Whoopee!
When Queen Greta first favored us with her candidacy, King Joe was highly critical. "[Browne] at the last minute, on her own, decided to throw our support to Charles Driscoll, Democrat for Congress. Mr. Driscoll did not even publicly oppose the War in Iraq." And in a letter sent directly to Her Highness, King Joe scoffed at Browne's assertion that She supports alternative energy and was somehow "betrayed" by the press. "Bush supports alternative fuels and 'environmental protections'. You say you were betrayed by the press, yet it is not the press who made the decision to support Driscoll, it was you. Where is Driscoll today in the battle for the environment? On the war in Iraq? On the paving over of the Lehigh Valley?"
Now that Queen Greta is on the ballot, King Joe is whistling a different tune. He talks about "new politics," but offers the standard fare of hypocrisy you'll find on the menu of both major parties.
this message of course is relevant to about 12 voters locally... Greta's disregard for the party leadership in 2004 showed just how little influence these folks have.
ReplyDeleteThat's Queen Greta to you, bippy. Disregard for party leaders is one thing. But she also had no regard for the idiots who signed her petition in 2004. I should know bc I am one of those idiots.
ReplyDeleteI agree at times youare an idoit Bernie but I still admire anyone who is willig to stand up for a third party canidate. I have been registered to vote since I turned 18 as an independent. It has never beenis difficult to hold out and not join a party. I just don't like either main stream party much. There like a larger version of a high schol clique with really insane rules for fitting in. Common sense and good judgement are thrown out the window just to save the party line. They don't encourage self though or intergrity. Down with the ship or get eaten by the sharks.
ReplyDeleteLst, I have nothing against third parties and was a Green myself for a few years. But I can't understand why a real Green would sign Quen Greta's nomination petition when she betrayed her own party just two years ago.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it normal to concede to the better canidate or winner if you are going to lose?
ReplyDeleteMadBatter, That's Queen Greta to you, bippy. And she's a psychptherapist, too!
ReplyDeleteLst, If that were normal, we could cancel every election.
ReplyDeleteTo Anon 2:29, I did tell the truth. Reichley and Harhart have terrible environmental records. In addition, Harhart voted to suspend House rules to enable the midnight payraise. Both candidates are up to their ears in special interest money. The only sane thing to do is to support their opponents, Russ Shade and Chris Casey.
ReplyDeleteAs for as Mr. Casey's finances are concerned, I understand he has been attacked in several negative mailers coming from the Recihley camp. Shame on him. Casey's personal finances have nothing to do with the issues. The fact that he's been down is actually a plus in my book. He knows what it's like to have nothing, something with which most voters can sympathize. Mr. Casey was very open and aboveboard about his finances.
But thanks, Anon. Now that I understand where you're coming from, I'll be pushing Casey hard in the next few weeks. I haven't even written my Casey post so I guess you're engaging in a preemptive attack. Haven't you Republicans learned yet that pre-emptive attacks can backfire?
Here is a link to the article I did on Casey and his bankruptcy. Feel free to cite it liberally.
ReplyDeleteThanks, LVDem. I remember that excellent post and will take you up on your offer.
ReplyDeleteLet's look at the logic behind Anon's argument for a moment. As I understand it, we shouldn't vote for Casey because he was once broke. Now the reasons don't matter. If he's broke, we must shun him. The logical corollary, of course, is that we should vote for a guy if he has lots of dough. The richer someone is, the more votes he deserves. Thus, Republicans like Lincoln, who went broke himself, must be should never have been president. And Donald Trump should be our next president. Makes sense to me.
1) Reichley is a Nazi. Even his friends don't like him.
ReplyDelete2) Harhart will win big. She's done nothing wrong--because she does nothing.
3) Greta is a publicity-addicted nut case. Some people are just begging to be humiliated in public.
4) "Mr. Independent Voter at 18" deserves a medal for being happy that he could only vote in half of all the elections held (General Elections) since he registered. Nice to know you like half a voice.
5) Bernie, how do you attract all of these loonies?????
To Anon 9:05,
ReplyDeleteReichley must be scared of something or he wouldn't be trying so hard to cut Chris Casey's throat.
Harhart is in for a surprise. Russ Shade is running a hard campaign, has some very good issues, and is going door to door. I know it's an uphill battle, but this is the guy who helped Stoffa win.
How do I attract these loonies? Look at me. I'm nuts meself. And I'll be honest. I love the comments.
Reichley TOOK the pay raise! He should be scared!
ReplyDeleteTo Anon, I'm not sure you're right about that. There are so many damn candidates I forget. But I don't want to be unfair, even though I support Chris Casey. I'll check it out.
ReplyDeleteIs Anon Billy Givens? if he is, he should say so.
ReplyDeleteAs far as "Nazis" go, today's brand can be sampled in:
1. LEPOCO
2. ACLU
3. ADL
4. SPLC
--Only THEIR Hate Speech is to be tolerated.
IRAQNAM------just as in the Vietnam, Korean,
WW1, SPANISH-AM, and Civil Wars, there are countless numbers of War Criminals who will go unpunished.
ReplyDeleteWWII,Gulf and Afghan wars were justified.
Graham Nash wrote a song called MILITARY MADNESS. Not enough pee-pullz listened.
Anonymous isn't Billy Givens... Billy always signs his work and leaves a trail 15 pages long.
ReplyDeleteThanks LVDem. And readers should know that anyone can post anonymously. There are many anonymous posters. I allow that because I enjoy the comments very much, although it does have its downsides, as in when someone proves that I'm ompletely full of it.
ReplyDeleteMoshki is not ww1---he have no idea how that happened.
ReplyDeleteThe interesting thing is Reichly is called a "Nazi" by Anonymous but war criminals are given a pass by Anon and everyone else.
Reichly was a prosecutor--everyone accused is automatically guilty--. That is nothing new.
And it does not equate to Nazism
I've met Greta Browne under different circumstances but always keeping her indelible bossy, sneaky and bad temper all the time when winds don't favor her plans.
ReplyDeleteIf you think Greta (sorry, Rev. Browne from Pottstown UU Church) is a little bit better as a religious leader you're a fool. She isn't an idiot, on the contrary, behaves uniquely by convenience.
As Bernie O'Hare stated, she is a couple therapist despite of the fact she's in her third marriage. Her third turn husband is the true idiot, manipulated by that scruppless woman.
When she was 'sworned in' as a minister at Pottstown congregation I had the chance to witness the fury towards the secretary when the ceremony schedule differed from what he had in mind.
For any standard she is a despicable woman.
Ouch! I was about to stay with Rev. Browne in her sworn in ceremony in the beginning of November 2003. Circumstances prevented me to be there but I had to bear almost two weeks of terrible bad temper and the fury against her secretary. In a long trip back and forth to UUA headquarters in Boston, by car, I was forced to absorb all her poisonousness. She really behaves only by convenience. Yes, her husband Guy is a unhappy manipulated man. Does anybody know if her poor mother-in-law already passed away?
