On Wednesday, I told you that the NorCo Elections Comm'n was forced to postpone a meeting that was scheduled to take place that day because no agenda had been posted on the county webpage 24 hours in advance, which violates the Sunshine Act.
At last night's meeting of NorCo Council, Executive Tara Zrinski acknowledged and apologized for this oversight. "[Elections Registrar] Chris Commini neglected to post the agenda as per the Sunshine Law prior to going to his conference. He neither delegated nor completed the task, but has taken full responsibility for the need to postpone the meeting. The administration apologizes for not seeing this error in enough time to remedy it."
If she was an effective manager she would not have to apologize so much. She is in way over her head.
ReplyDeleteI find it refreshing when an elected official takes responsibility for an error and acknowledges that a mistake was made. I would never hold that against anyone.
DeleteI like it as well, but at some point the constant apologies for screw ups indicate a level of incompetent executive leadership.

ReplyDeleteI would not fire someone simply bc he neglected to post a meeting on one occasion. That is someone who feeds a family.
DeleteMany of us feed our families and can't be expected to maintain our employment after making an egregious mistake.
DeleteGive me a break. My life has been littered with mistakes and on almost every level, from personal to professional. Screwing up a meeting notice is far less serious than screwing up an election. Firing the person who handles the elections just 100 days before an important midterm is just asking for trouble. Elections registrars do not grow on trees. It is a highly specialized job and takes time to learn. But the county should recognize that there comes a point when it is asking for too much from a hard-working office that already prepares and conducts three elections every cycle. Adding pop-up elections to an already burdened office makes mistakes inevitable.

DeleteZrinski is as incompetent as Trump. They may belong to two separate parties but their governing is the same.

This Executive is learning lessons the hard way. She may just prove everyone wrong at the end of the day.
