At last night's NorCo Council meeting, a TIF for the Dixie Cup factory building in Wilson Borough was once again on the agenda. A state-required public hearing was conducted on the proposal to provide a tax break to a non-local developer with no experience to convert a vacant factory into 405 luxury apartments. A vote is scheduled for May 7.
This break is supported by Council members Ken Kraft, Kelly Keegan and Jeff Warren. Executive Tara Zrinski also offered her support. To sweeten the pot, developer Brian Bartee has suggested he's willing to give the county $2 million in exchange for $20-29 million.
Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?
I'll have a complete summary of the lengthy public hearing available early next week.
This makes no sense whatsoever. Other than that, I can't think of anything to say that is even slightly polite or printable.
ReplyDeleteIf council supports this dumb idea; they all should be sued or better yet the citizens of Northampton County should sue to prevent council from approving the TIF tobegin with.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you keep getting this 20 million $ number? are you pulling it out of your ass? With this logic the TIF in Bethlehem cost the county 100 million dollars if not more if i use your crazy math
ReplyDeleteOf course the Three Stooges, Kraft, Warren and Keegan approve this because their task master, McClure is all for it. It was voted down. So, you keep voting until you get the members elected you want. If this is voted in by these clowns there better not be a tax increase next year since apparently the county has plenty of money to give away. Or is it the typical tax and spend democrats.
ReplyDeleteThis has no taxing implications on NORCO whatsoever. The taxing bodies that have ALL the skin in the game are the school district and the local municipality. they passed it unanimously 3 times. Get your facts straight, you sound like an idiot. and as far as tax and spend dems, that has zero bearing in truth i Believe Lamont McClure gave you a tax REBATE and last i checked he was a democrat. your last tax increase was brought to you by John Brownstain and the republican T-party now the MAGA PARTY. So where do you get this tax and spend democrat bull?
Delete@6:18 What are you talking about? There are absolutely county tax considerations, it's one of the three primary property taxes everyone pays. Also, McClure's rebate was on average like $60/year, and he left the county in a financial hole. He didn't have the guts (or honesty?) to either raise taxes or reduce spending. Instead he played a game of fiscal musical chairs and dipped out just as the music was stopping.
DeleteThis is a con job. Swaption anyone?
ReplyDeleteZrinski got the problems of McClueless’ last few years. Maybe he shoulda been running the county and not focusing on congress. This is what happens when you want to steer the ship, but you do other things and let everything drift. He’ll do the same thing in Congress. He wants all the glory, but doesn’t want to do any of the work. She’s stuck cleaning up his mess.
