Shakespeare never met Donald Trump but obviously knows the type. Once again, after days of apocalyptic rhetoric, Trump has blinked and agreed to a two -week ceasefire during which Iran's armed forces will actually facilitate passage through the Strait if Hormuz "with due consideration of technical limitation." That sounds pretty much to me like a toll booth, something that never existed until Trump began shooting off his mouth and Hegseth started to bray "no quarter, no mercy"
Even Ahab, one of Israel's worst kings, once remarked, "Let not him boast who puts his armor on like him who takes it off."

ReplyDeleteHis original statement of goals for the operation was to first prevent Iran from producing a nuclear weapon. Second, to weaken that nation’s warped, religious death cult government in hope the citizens could rise-up in opposition, and finally, to re-open the Straight for commerce by those nearby nations who depend on it.
ReplyDeleteAs of last night, those original American goals have been met. President Trump and his team got the full attention of Iran’s leadership and the world, although it took having our heavy weaponry already in the air for more offensive assault to motivate the opposition to re-evaluate its looming doom. IRAN did the blinking here.
The operation has ended successfully, for now. Time to hold back and leave it to others to take charge. No one knows how long the present status will last. But, now, the Iran military has been seriously disrupted, and without significant collateral damage to its citizens.
I’m glad Trump ended the offense at this time. No point in continuing further killing unless Iran breaks its promises. A humane and proper decision.

This was no deal at all, plus we spent billions of dollars, over 300 injured soldiers, & at least 13 killed. DeleteTrump didn’t blink at all. What he did was seize a moment for pause and create an opportunity to observe how other interested parties react. In effect, he can now re-stage the battlefield to America’s advantage. If more damage to infrastructure and killing of Iranian Guard maniacs becomes necessary, we are now better poised to deal with efficiency.
