Wandalowski on NorCo's Human Services Vacancies

Not all that long ago, Human Services Director Sue Wandalowski said that vacancies in Human Services existed because the county was stuck in a cumbersome state civil service program. Well, the county has been unshackled from state civil service and the vacancy problem should be an unhappy memory of the recent past, right? Wrong. Last night, Wandalowski reported that there are "around" 30 vacancies in Children and Youth. She indicated there are vacancies in the Department of Aging but failed to specify how many. I'll have more about this tomorrow.

  1. why work there when you can work at lehigh Cty cys for more to do the same job. It's where you loose COs to, dispatchers, and even court office staff. $4 more an hour is a big difference at the end of the year

  2. Why are you attacking this strong woman by intentionally misrepresenting what she said. She said, she has more bodies working there now than when she got there. She said she’s been stockpiling positions as the State offers them to her. Not necessarily with an eye toward filling them now, but for future needs. She needs about 10 more bodies. These are great numbers.

    1. What Wandalowski said is that she has 30 cvacancies in CYF, and they are about 20 more than she would like. And of course, she downplayed the significance of this number, I notice she shades the truth. I still have to watch her performance at another committee and will have more then.

  3. Nobody in their right mind would work in Children & Youth- long hours, terrible pay and very low morale.

  4. Wanda: I'm disabled. I come to the Courthouse once or twice/year. I follow directions. I park in handicap parking, follow the signs to employee/handicap entrance and each time I try to get inside, the rent-a-cop ignores me. I have to bang on the door for him to answer and then he gives me the third degree.

Nevermind Wanda. Perhaps Tara and Priscilla can help me.

  5. There are many vacancies, not only because the jobs in HS are demanding and grossly underpaid,, but even more so, the challenges of working under Wandalowski, who is terribly under-qualified and really needs to be dismissed from her position before this department gets any worse under her! There were never, ever this many open positions before she arrived in 2018!I I think Council should do an employee survey to ascertain the main problems, and she undoubtedly would top out as the #! reason.
