It's been my honor. It was an honor to have been elected to county council three times, and it's been a privilege to serve. And also, as the Director of Human Services, I want to thank the voters of the County for putting their trust in me all these times. And I would especially thank my family, especially my wife, Margaret, sitting there with the camera for the work they've done on my behalf.I've often told her, She doesn't believe it, but it's true.If it hadn't been for her, I doubt if I would ever get elected. She's been with me through my ups and downs, and I can't say enough about that.I thank the people I served with, past and present, for your support and comradeship.I've always considered myself a lifelong learner, and I continue to learn new things. In 1989, when I was one of the 10 Democrats in our primary, imy biggest fear was that I'd come at last. I worked hard in that race. Somehow, I didn't come in last.36 years later, between Northampton and Lehigh counties, I believe it's time to move on, get fresh blood, and I just want to say to all, thank you, and I wish everyone the best going forward. It's been my pleasure.I think.Thank you all.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.

Good luck in your future endeavors.

Good luck, Mr. Heckman. Take care of yourself. Thank you for serving.
ReplyDeleteI knew Ron from working at the county in the late 70's. He came in from Philly DPA and was a caseworker in child abuse I heard he is having significant health issues. Good Luck and best wishes.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your service and commitment to gracedale over the years.
ReplyDeleteHe never fought for Gracedsle, Parsons did
Delete4:26, was that befo9re or after McClure gave Parsons a job?
ReplyDeleteParsons was involved in helping set up an independent 501C3 group
ReplyDeleteTax break for donations for Gracedale…Heckman and the council , at the time, never could agree on establishing one for the county and lost their chance to directly raise money for the home.
