How Did NorCo Exec Candidates React to Charlie Kirk's Murder?

Tom Giovanni, GOP candidate for NorCo Exec: "Please join me tonight in praying for Charlie Kirk's wife, Erika, and their beautiful children following today's tragedy. Enough is enough with political violence. We must come together."

Tara Zrinski, Democratic candidate for NorCo Exec: "I had not planned on posting anything about Charlie Kirk’s assassination because I just didn’t have the words, but, I have read many posts and watched the reactions from the news, the President, talking heads on podcasts and it is all vile.

I mourn not for Charlie Kirk but for human decency. A man, who I did not know, has died, he had a wife and children and probably friends, although none I would align myself even in polite conversation. The proper, respectful and decent thing to do is to say, “sorry for your loss. I pray for the friends and family of this lost soul that he may rest in peace.” Yet, we have lost all semblance of decency in this polarized and charged political landscape.

I mourn for the hope that people can come together, even when they disagree, for mindful political discourse. I grieve for the future so uncertain for our country and the world. I am bereaved by the loss of kindness in the hearts of people.

I want to drop some Buddhist wisdom here that I have been thinking about. As the Dhammapada states, "An ignorant person takes pleasure and delight in killing living beings". Taking a life, even that of someone who you deem a wicked, or evil, person, creates new negative karma for the killer. It doesn’t remove that victim’s karma, either, and creates more suffering that, for some, will give birth to violence out of their vindication and condemnation of the act for others.

The goal is to break the cycle of violence, not to perpetuate it, even against those who may seem deserving of harm. We cannot break it if we keep perpetuating it. Charlie Kirk, for sure, had an agenda. I did not agree with him but, I do not wish him or his family suffering. I pray for peace. I pray for the end of suffering and the end of violence. I pray his death is the last."

Both Tom and Tara have reacted to this senseless killing with empathy and compassion. What Kelly Keegan said is the exception, not the norm.

  1. Tara's comments are thinly disguised - "his lost soul". She isn't fooling anyone.

    1. What an opportunistic Ahole! Would not lower herself to even have a polite conversation with anyone who alligned themselves with someone like Charlie Kirk. Narcissistic creeps like her only exacerbate the already tense and untenable political situation in this country. With wannabes like her in charge I feel sad for the people of Northampton County! Delusional self appointed know it all!

    2. I agree. Bernie I'm not seeing how you see Zrinski's comments as compassionate. In her post - "The goal is to break the cycle of violence, not to perpetuate it, even against those who may seem deserving of harm." She states that Charlie Kirk deserved harm for the crime of disagreeing with her. That's not compassionate, that's horrific.

    3. Zrinski is a phony, and doesn't have the mental capacity to write something like this.

  2. Tom's brief yet elegant words scream with dignity and sincerity. Tara Zirinski's words are her usual word salad, designed to not get her in trouble with her rabid feminist followers but enough to make one think she actually cares. She even threw in Buddha to show how smart she is. Her initial reactions were less than kind.
She has been hanging and working with Keegan for months, KK is part of her campaign force. Like Zirinski, KK claims to fight the patriarchy that rules everything with toxic masculinity.
People are aware that your newfound love and respect for the poser Zirinski, is to help Barron keep his job. She may be the worst thing to happen to Northampton County but as long as Barron has a job and McClure is happy, you are happy. Baron flaunts the Home Rule Carter and the Administrative code, but you are OK with that. I doubt council is happy. Baron Von Footinmouth( your name for him) is worse than he ever was. He needs Ziirinski to keep his cushy job. Shame you sold out.

  3. “I mourn not for the man” …..she worked very hard on this slick response. Vote no to Socialists.

  4. Look at Tara’s long rambling response. That is the response of a slippery politician trying to bullshit you. Giovanni is straight and to the point. Thats the choice for executive.

  5. The “Trump is a fascist” thing has come home to roost.
    Congratulations.

  6. 12:06 am, I thought the same. She rambled on, as is her habit, and made sure to point out several times that she didn’t like the guy or his followers (I bet, Tara, one or two of your supporters liked Kirk). She could have started and ended with the Buddhist saying.

  7. Lost soul? That man's soul was definitely not lost, and anyone who claims to pray to God would realize that.

  8. Tara Z is a gift from Gaea, her tender navigation of this matter shows class maturity and political savvy she's the next member of the squad inshallah

  9. The “quiet man” was eloquent in his short but meaningful statement. Tara’s was lengthy but she still could not stop herself from negative jabs at the victim. Giovanni for Executive!

  15. Charlie and all Christians in America have First Amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution to spread the Judeo-Christian values and beliefs America was founded upon just as Tara has the right to practice Buddhism. Charlie stood for God's plan for marriage and human sexuality. So sorry for Tara that the majority of Americans disagree with her.

  16. Tara's comments were littered with sarcasm. The only difference between her words and Keegan's is she was able to disguise her feelings regarding Kirk.

  17. Geesh! Did a lawyer write that Tara? What a long winded bunch of nothing! Take a stance please.

  18. Would not align herself even in a polite conversation.........so how would she represent me and those she disagrees with. Many point already made that shows her true self but this one hits home considering her political aspirations. Would she only have polite conversations with those of her same beliefs? Guess so!!@

  19. TZ is obviously just not gay enough to accept others' views

  20. Like other politicians of recent vintage, perhaps TZ should consider placing a word limit on her AI app that produces her written public comments. Sadly, her brain can't do that for oral presentations.

  21. TZ isn’t a Buddhist by any stretch of the imagination. What she is is a stone narcissist, to state the obvious.

  22. It is ludicrous for anyone to surmise that Tara Zrinski is incapable of composing a thoughtful, empathetic, well-written response to the current state of affairs regarding the assassination of Charlie Kirk. It would be laughable if it weren't so misogynistic to conclude that she needed help from a man to write her post.
Controller Zrinski's educational achievements include a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy from Drew University as well as 2 Master's degrees in both Theological Studies and Pastoral Counseling, which most certainly qualifies her to draw from a variety of religious teachings.
She has published work as a freelance writer and has taught as an adjunct college professor for 16+ years.
It comes as no surprise to anyone who knows her well that the Controller is an intelligent, articulate, capable woman who is well-prepared to become our next
    County Executive.

    1. Her response and your noted degrees that she has just proves a degree or multiple degrees do not make a person any more morally grounded. Her comments were guarded with undertones that are unacceptable in a county executive. We no matter our education sees right through her words. I would be a person if faith who was devastated a person charlie was assassinated and she clearly stated she would not have a polite conversation with me or anyone who thinks differently than her. Charlie was never lost but she is

  26. to 6:23, 0r the person who wrote Tara's condolence and This tome. It is obvious the author is th same. The same overuse of similar words. The same self-praising comments.
Her degrees are meaningless other than pride in reading and 'pay your fee get you B', type classes. Her self-published children storybook about a duck is cute but does not a real author make her.
She is a self-indulgent nut. McClure taught her to cut deadwood friends like Keegan. Zireinskli got her interview on tv naming Keegan on the air.
Please stop this circus and elect Giovanni.

  27. TZ’s warmed over milk toast Buddhism is yet another example of her shallow grasp of anything philosophically substantial.
    She’s a narcissist posuer.
