Following the Money: Ray Lahoud Sole Source in Successful Challenge to Patti Bruno For NorCo Council

Though she has managed several political contests and should know better, Patti Bruno was removed from the ballot in this year's at-large race for the Democratic nomination to Northampton County Council.  She was removed because she failed to file her Statement of Financial Interests with the Clerk of County Council. Although she's waging a write-in campaign, her chance of success is remote. She needs at least 100 votes and finish in the top five of the five Democrats who already are on the ballot.  Her petition was challenged by former Upper Mount Bethel Tp Manager Ed Nelson but an independent expenditure report filed by Ray Lahoud makes clear that he, and not Nelson, funded the challenge on his own. He also represented Nelson in court.

Why?

Bruno managed Terri Houck's campaign when he ran for re-election as District Attorney. Lahoud was the de facto manager for Steve Baratta, who eventually won.

That was a nasty race, and Bruno reported disparaged Lahoud several times with slurs aimed at his sexual orientation. So much for the party of tolerance. Lahoud's successful lawsuit removed a hypocrite.

I just hope nobody finds out that I have a thing for parakeets.

  1. So Ray Lahoud and Justin Simmons sit around and decide who they are going to attack this election? Maybe Justin will run, maybe he won’t in Lehigh County. Meanwhile, Ray decides who he hates in Northampton County and funds a challenger. Maybe they could find a better hobby.

    3. You would think after the last election that the far left Dems would understand that they caused the Democratic Party defeat in the last election. Dems lost everything because of the far left lunacy. Elections are won and lost by what the center of the country thinks. Now the far left wants Lahoud and anyone that disagrees with them to stay silent, mute and censored. Not what i would expect from my Democratic party!

    4. Too be fair, I think Dems are too against the culture when it comes to guns and too over the top when it comes to LGBT. I think they could use some more radical proposals on economic regulations (or even nationalization) and workers rights, though. They kinda have the worst combo right now

  4. That’s Patti Bruno? Her campaign ad made her look about 14.

  5. I’m not a fan of the way politics is played, but until campaign laws change, it is what it is. Ray is positioning himself as the LV’s Soros or Koch Bros. The difference? I don’t think things will end well for Ray.

What’s wrong with two young people that sincerely care about corruption trying to make a difference? Everyone knows the Lehigh Valley is corrupt politically on both sides. I salute Ray and Justin in their efforts to drain the Lehigh Valley Swamp.

  10. True, Patti messed up getting on the ballot, but, if she hadn't been challenged, the people would have had 5 decent candidates to choose from. Now they are left with 4.
