Mack Trucks To Lay Off 250-350 LV Workers

Peter Hall, who now works for Pennsylvania Capital Star, is reports that Mack Trucks intends to lay off 250-350 workers at its Lehigh Valley Operations Center over the next three months. Reason? "'Heavy-duty truck orders continue to be negatively affected by market uncertainty about freight rates and demand, possible regulatory changes, and the impact of tariffs,' spokesperson Kimberly Pupillo said."

Thanks President Trump. Make America Broke Again.

  1. I’m pretty sure Mack Truck’s management was aware new truck orders were down at some point early in this Quarter, before the tariff details were even announced in early April.

Regardless, we could have had Kamala Harris in charge now. She was the only other option. Yes, none of this stuff. But, then, no border security, men taking over women’s sports, unchecked federal spending, closer to direct military conflict, etc. Get the picture?

  2. MAGA reaps as MAGA sows. A broken democracy and a broken economy.

  3. Stop outsourcing the production of sub-standard parts for your trucks to China and start producing them in America. Insist trucking companies stop hiring (illegal) migrants, running them through sham driving schools to get them CDLs that keep frieght rates low. Deregulate the illogical standards on heavy vehicles imposed by FMCA, NHTSA , EPA, and CARB. Problem solved.

    1. The Biggest Problem that I see!
Is when Volvo bought Mack Motors.
They Destroyed The Brand with Their Crappy Electronics and Emissions!

  4. This macho tariff crazy crap is paying big dividends. Ouch for the Valley!

Been reading about huge volumes of seafaring shipments from China being canceled due to the tariffs. Xi knows Trump is just a big orange lying yapper. Get your over-sized gas-guzzlers serviced now MAGA maniacs. Prices will rise. Shelves will empty. The Trump Slump is coming.

  5. Nothing to do with Trump, who's been in office for three months. Their problems are longer term and structural. Their market share has been tanking for a while, especially the over-the road models. They also do little to help bidding dealers that are vying for large vocational municipal contracts. The state actually bought out of state Kenworths last year. That'd never happened. They've been buying lots of Mexican International trucks for years. Local lawmakers do nothing to keep PennDOT in Macks. Also, Volvo is dying to get out of Macungie and move the remaining production to Virginia. They hate Pennsylvania. It's better to be thought an idiot, than to blog about that which you know nothing, and erase all doubt.

    1. You got it, buddy ! There’s a lot more to this story, but it’s too easy to blame it all on Trump. If Trump sneezes, we can count on someone running to a blog to tell the nation he was too loud.

  6. does that mean Trump should buy a new Mack Truck to go along with his Tesla.

  7. I never thought I'd see the day that manufacturing company would lay off workers.

  8. Mack trucks has been laying off for years when demand was low. They were certainly aware of demand prior to trump and tariffs. But the narrative works for the democrats who wish to blame rather than offer solutions. As mentioned Volvo has no specific interest in keeping the lehigh valley plant. So give up the trump blame game. It's old

  9. I’m sure that new contract negotiated contributed to this.

  10. The strike and the big contract. It’s Trumps tariffs lol. I think the tariffs will affect some manufacturers, but remember, the UAW and Shawn Fain, the president of the UAW, are FOR the tariffs. It would be a much more objective post if this were mentioned.

  11. If you want to see really stupid then look at our nations farmers. When Trump was running for office the farmers were standing in line to lick his boots. Now the Trump actions are driving the farmers out of business and guess what? The farmers want a bailout. F—k you. You reap what you sow.

  12. The MAGA horde blamed all job cuts over the last four years on “Bidenomics.”
It’s different now that their Orange Lord is strangling the economy. Nothing is the Teflon Toad’s fault.

  14. The Swedes HATE the Macungie operation. They viscerally hate the union and got the best of the UAW in the last strike. They also hate Trump and are blaming tariffs because a majority in Pennsylvania voted for Trump. Trump has been in office for about ten minutes. He's not the problem. The Swede's problems with Mack are years old. They want the bulldog to die and for all badges to become Volvo (a portion of which is Chinese owned). The fault doesn't lie with any POTUS. If you had to pick one, look at the drooling buffoon from Delaware we just threw out. He slept for four four years while the economy tanked.

  15. The trucking industry is in a major downturn.... has been for last year plus. Since this article is so lazily written and bereft of any context of the industry, let's look up the EV truck mandates in NY, NJ and many other Northeast states. Call a truck dealership in NY NJ and ask how new truck sales are faring. There's your answer...

  16. Don't worry, not one single Trumper cares about these 350 American Families who just lost their source of income through absolutely no fault of their own. The party of Christians* does not care at all. Just look, not one single comment here even mentions the victims of this story.

  17. Love to see the MAGA people on here still loving Trump while he's got his boot on the throat of the nation -- killing AmeriCorps, USAID, NIH, CDC, FDA, Dept of Education, cancer research, education funding for disabled students, and on and on -- so rich folks can get more tax cuts they don't need. Haha. The cult is real!

But but but he's only been in charge for a little while! Lol. Look how much damage has been done. What good things have happened since Trump took office? Prices going higher. International students losing visas. China trade war. Canada hates us. Russia still bombing apartment buildings in Ukraine. Israel still committing war crimes in Gaza. Worst president in history, but MAGA is still floating in a sea of disinfo, thinking Trump is fighting for the forgotten people. Haha! He already forgot about you!!!

    2. To criticize the ending of USAID shows your complete lack of understanding of how corrupt some of those fake charities who benefitted were laundering their money to nefarious groups and political propaganda efforts. Of course, it’s possible you do realize this and are trying to hide some of that.

    3. 11:57... you think you know something and you're spitting it out here but it's all very stupid MAGA propaganda. USAID and the peace corps... these are just and proud American traditions that have received bipartisan support for decades until Trump, DOGE and all the MAGA lies. People in these programs work for little money and establish international networks and help developing countries deal with poverty. They were carefully managed and programs as close to purely good as the country has ever undertaken, for an insignificant portion of our federal budget. Look up "Atul Gawande USAID" and stop spitting lies when you don't really know shit.

  18. Let's be clear. Mack trucks is laying off and of course it's horrible for those employees. But to say it's Trumps fault is crazy
