It has become disappointing that all the Republican machine can come up with is a loudmouth and a bunch of wussies. Carson is the single distraction from the two extremes, and he's going nowhere. With those kinds of choices, Hillary the felon will sadly be elected, and the country can continue its decline into a third world nation.

Have you heard two politicians of opposing or competitive views arguing... One says yes on a view and the other says no on the view ... This goes back and forth .... Yes, No ... Until seemingly one of the politicians changes his or mind and switches his/he opinion from Yes to No ... But what happens next ... The politician who originally said no now switches to yes ... So we're back to same spot we were before with each politician continuing to respond yes and No respectively.
The DNC said in last night's debate, , the Republican presidential candidates were asked whether or not President Obama should nominate a new justice to the Supreme Court. According to the DNC these candidates said that Congress should block, delay, or otherwise refuse to allow the President to fill this vacancy.

Which brought the spokesman or woman for the DNC to say that there's no excuse for this, The Committee says it's putting partisan politics above the Constitution and the rule of law, and the Committee continues by saying it's appalling to hear from any public official -- let alone someone who thinks he should be the next President of the United States.

But wait a minute, hasn't Barack Obama put partisan politics above the Constitution and the rule of law with his issuing of executive orders whenever he didn't get his way. That is the charge that the Republican Congress and Republic Party has made.
So we are again in the position of one party saying yes and the other party saying no ... And each party reversing their stand depending upon whomever is in power and their current need at the time. Each mimicking the other parties statement depending on whom is in power or out of power at the time.
Indeed as the DNC says, President Obama is going to fulfill his constitutional obligation to nominate a successor to fill the vacant seat on the Supreme Court.. But this constitutional obligation will be checked by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell -- who is responsible for scheduling votes in the Senate -- and whom has already said that "this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new President."

Now, the DNC maintains that the unknown nominee deserves a fair hearing in the Senate.... Yes indeed, but perhaps the Obama nominee will get the same type of hearing that the Democratic Party when they were out of power gave potential Conservative Republican nominees .
Politics is tic for tac ... And how should the Republican Party respond if the President nominates himself, or Joe Biden or even Bill Clinton.
He wouldn't dare to, but he could.

The death of Justice Scalia is an historic event. The significance of the void his passing creates will be discussed for many years to follow. May he rest in peace.

2016 was destined to be filled with MAJOR news. There's much more to come. No one should dismiss this man's passing as just another "event of the week."

Buckle up.

George Will said today if R conservative candidate only gets same percentage of minority votes 17% as Romney, the R candidate will have to get 67% of the white vote. Is this possible or is the country certain to have another D president?

10:20 AM-

I'm feeling more certain the next president will be another Democrat. Given the two current Democratic candidates, that's NOT a good thing.

This is a most unusual period in our nation's history. Our representatives currently serving in Washington are terrified of making a move not without prior approval from their party bosses or some special interest group. Honestly, most of the people in Congress now are concerned about remaining IN office, keeping things as they are . . . no matter what that means for the nation.

I am expecting the hapless Republican National Committee to bungle their last chance at ever gaining the White House. These are foolish people, in my mind.

By the way, I believe Donald Trump hurt himself last night. Although this was yet another attempt to set him up for a fall, and he was clearly rattled going in because of the slime all around him, he nearly lost control. He KNOWS what's going on, and so should each of us.

That debate was embarrassing on so many levels. I nearly turned it off after the first 45 minutes. It wasn't Trump that was driving me away, but the hypocrisy and dirty tricks of the format that resembled a mobocracy intent on destroying both Trump and Cruz, the party's strongest candidates right now. Go figure.

Fred, it's hard to argue with you regarding last night's debate even the screaming.
Article in today's paper is troubling. Yesterday's horrific traffic accident on I-78 in Berks County. The Call reporter said this accident occurred very close to that Valentine Day blizzard a few years ago where folks were trapped for an entire day. Why doesn't the state do something about this portion of the road?

I agree with Fred. The R debate last night was an ugly mess, and counter-productive to R's winning the White House. Given that I lean left, it doesn't trouble me greatly. It was a national embarrassment though. I keep hoping for an end to the madness, but the tragedy goes on.

Last night it seemed as if Trump had had a fight with his wife just before he went on the stage.

Trump was the only candidate last night to mention the loss of 1400 Indiana jobs to Mexico. Why didn't another candidate even approach this? The Northeast PA district over the past 30 years has been eye-witness to the loss of hundreds of clothing manufacturing jobs from small to large companies that offered livelihoods to hundreds of local families. Many of these individuals never found work again
and lived their remaining years in despair.

After D.J.Trump eliminates most of the useless people and departments, they the fired, will start bumping down to take local patronage jobs. Oh the horror, to find that local positions have been eliminated. There are always the non profits. It's gonna get ugly real fast!! Welcome to the private sector.......You will be shocked.........every job in the private sector Starts at 60k/yr plus benefits to be a custodian.

A follow-up to a couple previous posts, if I may.

1. Judge Scalia's death and the handling of his body is much more suspicious today than it was yesterday. Check several news sources, rather than just one.

2. The clean coal technology I mentioned happens at the point of its conversion to electricity, at the power plant. There, the emissions are washed before leaving the facility. Yes, burning coal from a bin in your basement is still a dirty operation.

Thank you.
