While State Burns, Wolf and State Elite to Fiddle at Waldorf

Though a budget breakthrough is supposedly on the way, you never know what's going to happen in the land of midnight payraises. According to the Philadelphia Tribune, rare pangs of conscience (or more likely, election fears) are troubling some state legislators over a regressive sales tax increase that will have a disproportionate and devastating impact on the working poor. But it's not bothering them enough to call off the annual Pa Society shindig at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC.

State reps like Mike Schlossberg will dig into his campaign treasury to reserve his hotel room and rent a tux, if he hasn't bought one already. He, Fed Ed and other members of the LV delegation will make their annual pilgrimage to the Big Apple to dine on oysters and Delmonicos with the developers and business interests who really run this state.

According to the nonpartisan Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, sales taxes are regressive because they "inevitably take a larger share of income from low- and middle-income families than from rich families because sales taxes are levied at a flat rate and spending as a share of income falls as income rises." Putting it on Robin Hood terms, they steal from the poor and give to the rich.

Candidate Tom Wolf criss crossed the state in a Jeep Wrangler, trying to pretend he was one of us. But Governor Tom Wolf is tuning up his violin and has already sold out the very people - the working poor - who put him where he is.

In the meantime, out-of state frackers are laughing all the way to the bank.

Updated 11:30 AM - Bumstead reports some lawmakers will skip event if budget deal not reached. - You can read his report here.

Bernie, The 'middle class ' is diminishing. Sales tax increases are only going to cause a tax inversion on big ticket sales -thus less tax revenue per total actual consumption. Consider just tobacco sales in N.J., people flock across the free bridge as the result on relatively small sales. White goods, along with electronic sales will surge in Del. as result. The 1,000 dollar level and above will be hit the hardest, and increasing under the table ,no-tax deals on virtually anything sold will occur like gypsies in mobile vans. The answer to fair tax revenues are in the tax dodging tax free properties like private colleges ,hospitals and religious outfits ---they all benefit from society so they should be contributing.

Why does an organization called "The Pennsylvania Society" hold it's event in New York?

Second, it's sickening that we as a citizenry allow these types of public expenses and then hassle and deride school janitors and principals.

This event was more entertaining when it was an exclusively GOP affair.

Schlossberg shuttled Ed to this event in the past.
Ed sat in the back of the rented Lincoln Town Car while little Mike drove.

9:42, Fortunately it is not at public expense. The weasels use campaign contributions instead of the public's money. They certainly don't use their own money.

here is the political scam that wolf, the clintons , the obamas ,the McCains, the Boehner's , and all the other hacks from BOTH CORRUPT parties , do to make big time cash off of their campaign donations. They literally become their own bankers.

Tom Wolf , in 2012, loaned his campaign 10 million dollars at a super high interest rate. Some claim it might be close to 15-18%.

People often ask , how do these politicians become super rich , while "serving", the People? Scams like this as well as insider trading lead the way.

They will then use the cash to fund another campaign or fund others campaigns. It is a corrupt , disgusting , LEGAL , cycle. Those who made the rules made sure to exclude themselves from any crimes.

A great book that details this is called, Extortion: How Politicians Extract Your Money, Buy Votes, and Line Their Own Pockets

The second book, that once again details the political scam is called,
"Throw Them All Out". Throw Them All Out: How Politicians and Their Friends Get Rich Off Insider Stock Tips, Land Deals, and Cronyism That Would Send the Rest of Us to Prison

Two amazing reads, to say the least.

Who cares? Wolf's a Democrat and so that makes whatever he does okay. All Republicans know how to do is hate, or so I'm constantly told.

Elections have consequences ... time to pay your fair share.

5:45 PM ... i could care less what party he belongs to . the real issue is that all of these so called servants, from both corrupt parties, are corrupt beyond belief and true scam artists in every single sense of the term.
